Temperature going up and down?

I didn't run a fever at all in the hospital - the nurses all raved about that - but my temperature went up to 100.2 at home on Friday. Low 98's and even upper 97's on the weekend. Today, I'm back up to 99.6.

I wonder why that is... hoping nothing bad is going on.

Well, I know I'm supposed to call the doctor if my temperature reaches 101.0 - for now I'm ok, but I guess I have to keep an eye on it.

your temp can vary a couple degrees depending on when the last time you ate or had anything to drink, brushed your teeth, time of day, meds you are on, etc. i wouldnt worry about it unless you feel ill and its up over 101.0.

Temperature going up and down?

I decided to check it because I haven't been feeling so great today, and I felt overly warm when the room is a comfortable temperature. I've also noticed more burning around my incision today. When I get up or down, it feels like fire flaring out from the edges of it.

Temperature going up and down?

I'm at 5 weeks and my temp has been all over the place. My normal temp presurgery ran around 97 and now it runs anywhere from 97.6 to 100. I've had several times when it ran in the 99s and then went down in the 98s the next day and then went back up in the 99s the following evening. I've noticed that lately my temps are running in the 98s, which is I guess my new normal. My instructions said to call when it got over 101, which it never did, so I've never called the doctor.

The reason I asked about the meds is that they can bring down your temps, thus causing the fluctuations depending on where you are throughout your pain-med schedule. My recommendation is to let your pain meds wear off, wait an hour, and then 10 minutes after your last sip of water or bite of food, take your temp -- that should be more accurate.

I had a similar experience the first week, but never went over 100. I think it's because of the anesthesia leaving your body and the pain meds.
