5 weeks Post OP and bleeding

I am exactly 5 weeks post op and for the last two weeks have been spotting. Some days its pink, some days brown, 1 day it was even red... now its back to pinkish brown. I thought it was just my stitches dissolving but now I am not sure. I had a LAVH and kept my ovaries. I am not sure what is going on but it wont stop... should I call my doctor or not worry about it. My 6 week check is next Wednesday the 19th.

5 weeks Post OP and bleeding

JaimeLynne,
I too had spotting up until about 5 days ago. I had a LAVH on Oct.23rd took ovaries. I went to Dr at 5 weeks and she said that everything was fine. I am going to go to the Dr. Thursday because I am still having discomfort in I believe the vaginal cuff . I also sometimes when I wipe myself have a pink tinge discharge. So I guess what I am trying to say is I think what is happening to you is normal. When you go to the Dr. you can ask but you might not have a discharge anymore. Your internal stitches might not be healing right so they will do a silver nitrate treatment which I had done. No pain or discomfort at all just a lot of discharge for a few days. Hope this helps you.

It never hurts to call your doctor's office. You may be able to talk to a nurse. I was told that spotting during that time period was still within normal ranges, but you should follow up if you feel nervous about this. They'll probably want to know how heavy your spotting is.

I had a LAVH keeping ovaries in early September. I also spotted for a long time. I don't remember exactly, but I think I spotted until about the end of week 5. I found that my spotting depended upon my level of activity. Too strenuous activity increased my bleeding. At the six week checkup the doctor said I was not completely healed and he used silver nitrate. There was no pain associated with this for me, nor was there with the physical exam at 6 weeks. The silver nitrate caused a brownish odd-colored discharge for about three more days and then nothing. He asked me to wait for sex until 8 weeks to make sure the vaginal cuff was healed. I did and did not have any problems.

Everyone heals at a different rate. It's only been three months since my surgery but it feels like it was a really long time ago. The only constant reminder I have now are the tiny belly incisions that I periodically rub with vitamin E oil.
Best of luck to you.
