Sense of taste changed post-op

Am I imagining this? My sense of taste seems to have changed. I had a TAH (kept one ovary). I used to crave all kinds of sweets (chocolate, cookies, cake) and now I don't really care for them. We had a Christmas party at work today and I didn't even touch the desserts! That's something I have never experienced before. Has any one else had this happen? My sense of smell seems keener too. Am I just losing my mind? LOL.

Sense of taste changed post-op

I haven't had very much interest in sweets, post-op, either. And when I do have some, a little goes a very long way. I'm hoping it'll stay that way - but I have a feeling it'll go back to normal once all my hormones are working properly again.

You are not losing your mind. It happened to me too but it did go back to normal after awhile.

I am only 6 days post op and have the same problem...I thought maybe my taste buds would come back...but maybe not. i am glad that I am not the only one with this problem...though I am not sure it's a problem,I could probably stand to slow down on sweets anyway...lol

Sense of taste changed post-op

My taste and hearing changed post-op. My taste came back but it seems I'm ultra-sensitive to anything loud.

Sense of taste changed post-op

My taste changed and it was a real challenge the first few weeks to find anything I felt like eating.
It has slowly come back, but I am still not "back to normal" on my taste.
I gained no weight after the surgery, however, and I know that part of it was my lack of excitement about food!

Hope this helps!

Good, it isn't just me. Salty things taste much saltier now, and my house smells funny. Of course that part could just be because I'm home all day with the dog...

My hearing changed also. Everything sounds loud. My tastes changed a year ago with my gastric bypass surgery and hasn't gone back yet. I can eat real strawberries, watermelon, and other fruits, but nothing fruit flavored. It all tastes like soap with the artificial flavors. Sugar tastes bitter and I can only eat Splenda. I used to eat lots of sweets, but now would rather have something savory. Weird, huh?
