Laparoscopic Hysterectomy: TLH pain, can anyone relate?

HistoryNut,
I hear you!!!!! Like yourself, I am wondering how can women do all this stuff??? I showered & made a trip downstairs & was TOTALLY wiped out. I crawled up to my bed where I took over a 2 hour nap. I am still swollen, bloated, have a heaviness in my pelvic area & trying to crap .... & becoming quite nauseauted from all the MOM & Colace!!!! I have not ventured out of my nightshirt & spend my days in bed (with exception of trying to stay downstairs 1-2 hrs!!) I am not like this & it is driving me nuts - I am active with my family, work, & exercise ... but can't help it as I feel soooo lethargic & tired!
Please know you are not alone ... Christmas Eve is a week away & I want to SCREAM!!!

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy: TLH pain, can anyone relate?

Hey sclighthouse,

I had my surgery 1 week prior to you. I gotta tell you that I feel much better now. I am still sore when I go out too much, but I can go out. I got the go ahead to drive today, but only drove 1/2 mile.

I didn't take any pain killers and went to lunch with my mom and the kids and then to see Alvin and the Chipmunks. I came home and slept 1.5 hours after and still am tired

Here is the thing, when I sleep, lay around and don't do anything, I get sad and depressed. I really do.....but when I try to continue with life, taking it easy, resting when I need to, I feel human again!

I hope that makes sense!

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy: TLH pain, can anyone relate?

Im 5 weeks out and still in pain, sorry. I fell last friday so it made everything worse. Before the fall I was doing great. I had a bad UTI so I was abit dizzy at times but doing great. I must agree that lying around is depressing. I have 5 boys to take care of and I just get that over whelming feeling to get my butt up and go go go!!!! But you will learn the hard way if you dont "lay arond" and take care of yourself. I got a journal to keep track of my progress and my emotions. OH BOY, when I read back over some things I get a great laugh, emotions are a funny thing. I read here somewhere that some one still gets pains in the right side. I did and still do. Doc said that side is blown up alittle bigger to get a good look for any extra endos. Make sense? So the muscles have to literally grow back and fill in. So naturally there is pain asscoiated with that.Even Im sick of hearing this but , just give it time ...... You'll see..... Time goes so fast. And if you get to antsie you could fall like me :bigwink: Be good to youselves ladies

Laparoscopic Hysterectomy: TLH pain, can anyone relate?

I feel so much better knowing all that I am feeling is normal. I had my TLH last Thursday and still feel like I swallowed a mellon, whole. I feel so tired and bloated all the time. One thing I am courious about is that I still see blood on the TP after wiping, is this normal? Also courious to know if any one knows how many stictches they have inside, I was told 170 seems like alot.

Hi Cathlong - good question re: number of sutures. I'm also curious about that! I still feel swollen "down there" & I think that's what is attributing to the pelvic heaviness I also feel. As far as the blood - I had very light spotting the day of surgery & day after (that require a pantyliner), but nothing since. I know other friends had spotting for several weeks postop. If it's not coming from your vagina, perhaps you have hemmorrhoid that is irritated or small anal fissure? Another possiblity is a urinary tract infection ... do you have any symtoms (urinary burning, urgency, frequency, pain with urination?)? Rest & take care of yourself!!

Wow I am normal in my recovery. I have been feeling great but I over did it yesterday and I had to go back to prescription pain med. I am also having a progressively harder time sleeping. I feel itchy inside which I guess is nerve healing. I also think my stored hormones are running out I thought lapro would be easy but it's hard to. I certainly wouldn't go back to presurgery though. DH is great, I am lucky.
