Lost a stitch

I'm 5-1/2 weeks post op, and feeling very well.

I had PMS symptoms a couple days ago, just for one day, the foggy headache, moodiness, and carb craving. But the next day - no Niagra Falls!

Today something weird happened - I found an orange stitch on the tissue after I went #1 ... I thought only TVH's got found those. I'll mention it to my Dr when I see him next week for my 6-wk appt. I'm glad I read about them, or I would've been a bit alarmed.

Looking forward to being released from my 5-lb. lifting/pulling/pushing restrictions. Also, looking forward to being able to do other things.

Kristen, I didn't have cervical cancer--it was endometrial. But the Dr. said that IF there was a recurrence, it would be up closest to where the cervix was. I think the only reason he began talking about HPV was to explain that the old rules of no cervix=no pap is going away BECAUSE of the prevalence of HPV.

This Dr. I've been seeing is a gynecological oncologist. He may have the latest news on these things, over a regular gynecologist. It sounds to me like your Dr. has told you the opposite of what mine has told me. I don't want to be alarmist, but maybe you should get a second opinion?

Molly, from what I understand, HPV is carried by men. So, both you and your partner would have to have had NO other partners for you to really have no chance to get it. If you and/or your partner have ever had other partners, then I think you probably should ask your Dr about it.

Sorry to be such a downer. Such a depressing subject. Still, I thought it was an important one.

House - I'll talk to him when I see him the 4th. The good news is the SCC (squamous cell carcinoma) was removed in a cone biopsy I had earlier, and the path was clean after the hysto, so I was thrilled about that. I'm glad you and your doc are on top of it, did you have to have treatments? I have a rediculous family history of cancer, so am planning on being proactive regardless - since I had HPV (being a virus it makes sense it could still be lurking...), it sounds like I need to keep having paps!

Have a great morning ladies!

Jill,
They still stitch the top of the vagina, where the cervix peeked through, together, so I'd assume you'd see them. As long as you didnt have extreme pain before it came out I wouldnt be too worried.
Im glad your feeling well enough to want to lift over 5lb! I cant hardly even lift myself yet so cant fathom lifting even 5lbs LOL

Kim
TVH-kept ovaries, 6lb uterus with disection from badder flap and sigmoid colon..yes, I'm bruised and sore!

No, no chemo or anything else. Just the paps to keep an eye on things.

Which is pretty funny and ironic since she probably doesn't even notice if her patients shave their legs shaved or not. Yet, still the same I feel compelled to make a "good impression".

Pretty ridiculous!! Does anyone else find themselves doing this before a "woman's exam"?!!
hahha I thought I was the only one, I'll have my 6th week post-op visit tomorrow, and I was thinking about that, the shaving, the exfoliation and of course moisturizing lotion. We have to look good no matter what

For those still having hot flashes, I saw a card today at the store that said "They're not hot flashes..............they're power surges!!"
Maybe we are all having power surges while our superwoman capes hang in the closet waiting for us to return.

My DH has been referred to a physical therapist for his back and hip issues. He has actually been able to walk around without pain this week. So now he is ready to start his calendar!! I go back to the doctor next Wed. we'll see what she says.........

I remembered the other day, friend of mine had told me that when her DH is interested and she isn't she just pulls out the box of tampons and puts them on top of the toilet so he doesn't even try. I'll admit, I've done it a time or two as well. So do I need to just put the bottle of tylenol out now??
Have a great day!

Oh,For those looking for the gratitude thread, it got moved to friends without faces, though you can find it under the "new posts" section as well.

That whole prep thing is hilarious!! It's nice to see that I'm not the only one who does that! I know before my surgery I made sure I shaved my legs and thought, who's going to care! I guess it's just a mental thing.

I like the "power surge"! Is it possible to blow a circuit?

I need to vent. My youngest dd was deaf for most of K-1st grades, the end of 1st we figured it out and she had surgery. She was an expert lip reader, so it was hard to pointpoint the problem, and I couldn't get her teachers to take my suspicions seriously - they thought she was just being lazy. God finally got hold of me and it was very clear what the problem was! Her hearing was great after, but I've had my suspicions lately. I asked her teacher about it, and she came back with I agree she's not hearing me, because she's not tracking well in class. Then she went on to say my dd was too passive and too quiet and she's going to fall through the cracks if she doesn't engage. Oh for God's sake, if she can't hear you, of course she's not going to be speaking up, she doesn't know what the heck you're saying! And can I remind you she's 8? I'm angry that she's noticed this, and she knows her history with the deafness and surgery, yet said nothing until I came to her. (Even after asking her to keep an eye out at conferences earlier) She put all the onus on my daughter, and was really quite demeaning when all she needed to say was, yep, i think you're right, what can we do about it?

Today my dd is going to ask the teacher to move her to the front of the class so she can hear better, and I'm taking her back to the ENT surgeon next week. Thanks for listening, I know it sounds silly to be so angry, but mama bear comes out when my babes are having issues!

Thanks for listening, my dh says just let it go, I know I should, but having a harder time letting things go these days with the moods! I either get really ticked off or cry like a baby!
