Mimilu--I wish I had the information you were looking for and I'm sorry you didn't really find what you were looking for. I know it is easier to do something new when you have an idea of what to expect. Maybe you could call out to the doctor's office and speak with a nurse about it? Sometimes they have more time, or they know what information you want. Just a thought.

In any case, you can do anything for two weeks, right? Right!

I was released at two weeks, and work, normal stuff wasn't that bad. I came down with a cold at three weeks, so then I was laid up from doing more activity for another week.
Well, last Saturday I went out with my horse riding group. Three hours out on the horse. The horse is out of shape, too, so we didn't go fast and furious, but we didn't just poke along at a walk, either. It felt great to be out, but I was sore before I got on the horse. I think I had nerves that morning, and was probably holding my tummy muscles tight with anticipation.
I rode a little more that afternoon, and slept great that night. I was up on the horse again the next morning, and noticed that my backside was bruised after so much time off.
Anyway, since then I've pretty much hurt constantly. I think it's mostly muscles, but also twinges in other areas. Nothing really bad, more like an ache, and I occassionally take an advil if it's bothering me enough to think about it. Nothing for sleeping, because that's when it feels the best (when it's relaxed). I'm not in jeans today, and it feels so much better. Still tender and swollen now, though.
So, even with the LSH, after real activity there's the soreness and swelling, especially at night. I'm wearing really comfy riding pants when I ride, so at least there's that comfort when I'm on the horse.
I'll be out again this weekend. I'm careful about things like mounting up and no stretching that could hurt things. Still, those core muscles are protesting.

My Night with the Heating Pad!

Well last night as I layed in bed trying to fall asleep (didn't take the ambien, am scared of getting "hooked"), I started having those excrutiating sharp pains that course upwards through my va-j-j. My DH ran in and suggested grabbing the heating pad and thanks to the auto shut-off I wound up falling asleep with that between my legs.

My intended quiet night after my 1st day (1/2 day) back at work, I ended up cleaning up puppy pee (a 7 mo Great Dane can pee A LOT!!) on the carpet, tile, AND wood floor. And then had to scrape off the top deck because the melting snow was leaking into the house in a specific troublesome location and no one else was home. Then middle of the night (after the heating pad had comforted me to sleep) our 5 yo DD woke up crying with a fever and since my DH was unwakeable (funny how men can sleep through children crying, "funny noises", and animals needing to be let out!), I ended up carrying her up both flights of stairs and across the house into our bedroom. Surprisingly - today I don't feel so bad!!

Our winter storm here in Idaho continues to rage on! My DH drove me in today as the freeway was closed in 3 locations with double-digit slide-offs, and a few rollovers. How is everyone else fairing? Annie - I'm glad you have power back!!

MsMechanic: Just as I said that I was still uncomfortable in large groups, I got a call this morning to speak at a local kick-off dinner event next week for a major national fundraiser. My bit will only be about 5 min. but holy cow!!! At first I said no, but then finally agreed when they sounded desperate (they must be desperate to want me!!). It's next Tuesday night - so I may need to check in before for some sisterly support (please remind me to pack my brown paper sack to prevent hyperventilating!!).

Wishing you all the best today!! Happy healing.

annie- i was thinking the same thing about the hbi and suzyqs wait having to be extended. i had my post op at 4 wks and dr told me the same thing, 6wks and you'll be fine. dh is counting on it tonight for his birthday....and of course today is the day ive getting all kinds of little pains/feelings in there- I think i might try the glass of wine thing.

Then today was so stressful at work. Way too many changes this soon after returning. at one point i noticed i had tears in my eyes. yikes hope no one noticed. Anyhow I just emailed my co-worker i always get along with- that i lashed out at today and apologized. I dont think she gets it that im still recouping mentally- since physically im doing great.

One good thing today- I fit into my reg. cords today. its the little things i guess. Have a good night all...got to go get that glass of wine.

But that wasnt the case. I did also check the Cancer site out and did find more info but it is weird when I google it or just go online for info it is only what it is not what you can expect from it. Oh well, I am glad it is everyother day for 2 weeks instead of every day for 2 months...I was getting ready to back out of that. Thanks all...Have a great day.
Mimilu52 - I work on an oncology unit and we often take care of patients with internal vaginal radiation. What you have decscribed seems a little different that what we do at the hospital. Where I work the patients come in and have the implant placed down in surgery then they place the radiation once the patient gets to her room...then it is left in place for 2-3 days and they go home the next day. we call it a cesium implant. It may be just a different way facitilities do it. Are you actually having internal radiation?? If you want to know some of my experiences with patients feel free to contact me. I will do my best to answer what I can...and if I don't know I might be able to point you in the right direction. hope that helps a little. hang in there!

Hi everyone,
I made it through my first day back. Lot's of hugs from all the students, that was nice. I did fine till about 12:30 then I really began to get tired, but I made it. I've been in my chair ever since I got home.
I missed being home watching my shows and checking in on site.
Looks like we may get a snow day tomorrow, that would be nice.
Ok ladies here it goes......
I have an adorable husband (handsome) and he is way ready for the intimacy but honestly I am concerned about my drive....or should I say lack of.. Wine always helps relax me but I'm afraid of that because of the weight I've put on and the bloating since the surgery. I feel so huge! I did wear my presurgery jeans yesterday, but they didn't fit the same....a bit more snug. I hope this goes away!!
Sorry for the complaining, just needed to get it off my chest.
Thanks for being out there!!!!!

Good evening ladies..........
Congratulations to all of you who have returned to work and have survived to tell us about it. In a way I'm not ready to return to night shift as I was at work today for a skills day for about 3 1/2 hours and tonight I am very tired.

I too was released for "HBI" and my situation is a little different from some of you. I feel that I am ready, though my DH doesn't show a lot of interest. When I had the D&C done in November that's all he was focused on "3 weeks!!" of no HBI. So a month later being told 6 weeks.... I think he's gotten used to it. Not that he went the whole time without pleasure.... I tried to help him... (tmi- sorry!). Anyway, last night he said jokingly (at least I thought he was joking) that now I have to wait 6 weeks. I told him it wasn't that I didn't want to....it was a doctor's order!!! Now, I'd like to know if things still work.
Yes, it's only been 24 hours since we got the ok, but with our schedules the next few days, we won't see each other much until next week.... guess I'll be a born again virgin!
