Hello Sisters! I hope your days are off to a good peaceful start. Yesterday I took the kids to spend more of their giftcards, after being out and about for 4 hours, I was exhuasted and irritable ready to return to home. Ibuprofen does well for me. I am a little tired and sore today. I've bribed the kids today that if they help clean up they can go skating this afternoon as they have a free pass from their teachers for winter break. I am looking forward to them returning to school next week.

I will see my doctor on the 7th to see how things are healing. Still have some sutures sticking out of the bottom incisions. By the end of the day they are a little reddened and sore. Maybe I'm doing too much?!?

I will not be cleared to return to work until after my 6 week checkup at the end of the month. Though I have been working on our unit newsletter and hope to get that emailed out to them by next week.

I've only cooked a couple of meals. Haven't really felt like cooking. We went out for a very late lunch early dinner yesterday when we were out and about, got me out of cooking last night!
Have a good day. I'll be checking in again tonight to see how everyone's day went.

Hi Ladies!

I have less than two hours until my 2-week post-op, and this time at work this morning hasn't been easy at all! I'm hoping I'll get the excuse from the doc to work half days for another couple of weeks before being cleared for full time! However, people around me keep telling me that perhaps I shouldn't be back (no choice, though), but I just was so BORED that I was actually thrilled to come back to work this morning. Apparently, I'll just have to take it really easy. Luckily, I'm just doing office hours until our semester officially begins with classes on next Wednesday. I hope to be ready by then!

How are the rest of you handling a return to work today?

MJ

Hello ladies,
I'm wondering if anyone else is having boughts of crying? I'm two weeks post-op and some days I'm fine, others I feel like I could cry at the drop of a hat. I'm on an estrogen patch and I know that's controling the menopause symptoms as I don't have the hot flashes I had in the hospital, but can't put my finger on the crying. Is this a normal part of recovery?

Good Afternoon ladies-
Sounds like everyone is starting back to work. Not me since my LSH was changed to the TAH I was told 6 weeks. I am wondering if there are any other RN's out there who work at a hospital.....what have you been told about returning to work. They told me a minimum of 6 weeks but never really said if I would be on any restrictions or not. I work on an oncology floor that is really busy....lots of running and not much time to sit or get a break if I wanted one. Just thought I would ask the question. I have my next post op appt. on January 11th so that is certainly on my list of questions. have a good day

HysterNurseDeb,
I work in an ICU 12 hour shifts and was told that I would be off for at least 6 weeks as well and my surgery was a TLH. After being out on my feet for 4-5 hours yesterday, I don't think I could make it 12 hours right now anyway. I don't know if there will be restrictions upon returning. I go on the 7th for my first post op visit.

tld03,
I have had bouts of crying off and on the last 2 weeks (I am now 15 days out). I am easily irritated and tend to blow a fuse at the drop of a hat. I have heard others say that this is part of the healing process, afterall, our bodies have been through a lot and we have to give them time to recover. I've kept my ovaries and have heard that they can go into shock. I am hoping that they are snapping out of it soon and hoping that this isn't my new personality! Hang in there.

spenn. i kept my overies too and just checked the calendar today and sure enough it is like two days from when my period would have been due. Kind of makes last nights pms symptoms and nervousness etc. more explainable.

I had my first outing today, my mom stopped by and we went to the local discount store a few miles away. Only was there about a 1/2 hour and got a bit woozy, but i turned around fast and was a nervous about the whole experience anyhow.

tonight is walking inside. we'll see how that goes dh is driving me and promised to walk with me so we'll see how that goes. hes being a trooper, he hates to walk for exercise.

Hi Ladies

Last night, DH took us all out for dinner. I stuffed myself and felt absolutely miserable afterwards. I'm 3 weeks post-op (LSH--ovaries and cervix intact). My stomach was so full. I could feel a lot of pulling and stretching. It was totally uncomfortable. I've been quite pleased about the weight lost. I've lost about 10 lbs and have a lovely semi-flat stomach. Pre-surgery my stomach was protruding and I looked about 5 months pregnant thanks to Ms. fibroid. I've had people asking me about when is "this one due". I embarassing and angrily had to inform them that I wasn't expecting. So, I'm happy to have lost so much weight. I really hope it stays off. I had my LSH on 12/17 and everything went perfectly well. I had my 2 wk post-op this past Monday and was afraid I'll get the ok to work notice soon. However, I've got the okay to go back to work on 1/28 (yeah!!!). I'm in no hurry to return to work. I want to heal and rest.

I had mine on Dec 20th, unplanned, but everything turned out okay...no cancer. The craziness of Christmas carried me over the last two weeks, but now I am feeling low. Any one else had this experience?

**children mentioned**

Hi everyone I'm 14 days post-opt and feeling great. I went back to work on monday and the first day I was tired but am not fatigued at all today. DH and I kinda forgot about the no sex rule and have done that twice and (TMI) it was better than ever!

I just can't wait to be able to pick up my two babies (2.5 and 12 months) because I know that is too much right now. I also have not been driving yet but I really have no need as my mom or DH drop me off and pick me up from work.
