Saturday, and feeling much better

The pain is getting better and my bowels seem to have finally gotten back to normal. I've been drinking lots of water and walking on my treadmill at least a couple times a day at .7 speed, which is really slow, but I'm not hunched over and the pain is minimal.

I'm able to sit at the computer, although not for long stretches at a time, but it's definitely getting better. My DH has been a dream.....waiting on me hand and foot. It's going to be a long 6 weeks, but I'm planning on using every bit of it to rest and lounge around.

Glad to hear your pain is getting better! I never thought about walking on our treadmill. Maybe later today I will try that!

Luckily I have a laptop computer that I can put on the ottoman next to the couch and lay down and type one handed! I go back to the doctor after 4 weeks and am going to try to go back to work after that! I know that I can't lift for 6 weeks though which is hard having an almost 7 month old! My DH has been really good to me also! He took part of this week off and then he will be off all next week to continue to help out.

I had my supracervical hyst on thursday and it went great. Got home last night and slept so good in my own bed. He didnt do it laproscopically so that was nice not to have to deal with the gas or incisions. i have some lower abdominal discomfort but i wouldnt call it pain. IB 800mg is working better then the percocet he gave me and he said that alot of time IB is better but to take the percocet when needed. I guess I had alot of endometriosis and adenomyosis going on in there that we had no idea about so its just one more reason I am really glad I got it done. I to agree that the waiting was the worst part and recovery is no problema. Hope everyone else is feeling as good as I am!

Everyone is amazed at how my recovery is going... I guess it says something about the past 30 years when I say that I haven't even thrown up since the surgery! I came close on day 2 (from all the gas pain) and had some crackers, that did the trick.

Being at home sure beats being in the hospital!

Hello,

This is my first time responding to a posting, so forgive me if I do something wrong. Anyway, my surgery was the 18th and I went home on the 20th having only urinated and passing a minimal amount of gas. Unfortunately, I was constipated going into the hospital and finally had a BM today after 6 days without. I was taking stool softeners and bulk fiber, but nothing. I finally took a laxative and have had a small BM, but I will take it. I was beginning to think I was going to blow up. Drink plenty of fluid and eat veggies and if all else fails try a laxative. I don't know if I was supposed to do so but it worked.

Good luck to you.

feeling good!

This is my first post but I have been reading the forums for a couple of weeks. I had TVH the 19th and got home the 21st. I have felt great almost from the time I woke up in recovery. I had a wonderful dr & great nurses. my DH has taken good care and I am doing well at home. My DM has also been a great support as has my DD. I am lucky to have so much support. It has been nice to read how others are doing and taking their advice. Thank you to all who share on this blog. My discomfort has mainly been from gas so keeping that under control helps a lot! Staying calm and feeling confident about what is happening has helped me.

About constipation - I was so afraid! Especially since I was having even more stitches/work this time. After my last abdominal surgery I had a terrible painful time of it, truly thinking I was tearing stitches.

So this time, I took all the Senacot they gave me at the Castle, drank LOTS of water, and when I did finally have an appetite, I ate only oatmeal and salad. Also, took Colace morning and night. Had very soft bm 2nd day home. What a relief!

Still eating high-fiber. I guess I will be for a couple weeks...

Thanks for the encouragement, i finally had a bm today. I feel a bit better but still suffering from constant headache. I'm not sure if it's the patch HRT or everything else. I've had migraines in the past and I think I'm afraid of getting one. I'm tring to relax and not think to much but that seems difficult. My DH, DS, and DD have been great, I'm blessed to have them around. It's encouraging to hear all the healing that is taking place among all of you! I hope you all recover quickly and enjoy Christmas.

I am feeling up to a short post tonight. Dr. said I was more challenging than he expected as uterus was larger than anticipated. He was able to complete it as LAVH. He chose to leave my ovaries in due to their normal appearance and my age. Hopefully there will be no side effects from trauma. I feel like I cannot breathe well on my right side. I have pain up under my rib cage. I didn't take enough pain meds today and am feeling it now. I think I am ready to sleep.

It sounds like you have some gas pains going on there. Have you taken some gas-x? that may help ! I am glad to hear you didnt need the abdominal cut. take it easy and let your body recover. dont let the pain get away from you, I did and it took a while for the meds to workWishing you a merry christmas and speedy recovery.
