Hi everyone! I didn't know a thing about a seroma until I developed it after surgery. It is a pocket of fluid that collects behind the incision site (TAH). After we called my dr at night and she told us what to do, I felt 110% better. I started googling some information about seroma's It started leaking last Saturday and finally drained out on Saturday night. Yesterday, the other seroma drained out, and in fact is still draining. My Doc says she wants it to drain and is pleased it is clear fluid, somewhat sticky.

My taste hasn't come back yet either. I eat because I have too. When DH asks what I have a taste for, I just look at him and shrug. Once he offers ideas up, I can choose something, but even at a resturant, there are to many choices. Everything seems bland, yet spices irritate the bowels. I hope this wears off soon.

I find my taste buds are in overdrive. Everything tastes so much more spicy, sweet, sour, hot or colder then usual. Even my tongue is pinker. I know it is weird, but colors are more vivid. I think I am tripping on some weird drug.

Tomorrow is my foot surgery. Can't wait. "NOT"

Using crutches again with this incision is going to be difficult.

Hi ladies,

I can't believe I didn't drop in here yesterday, but I decided to do a few other activities and stay off the computer yesterday.

I'm feeling awesome and I can't wait for my post op appointment this coming Thursday. My incision is looking perfect. It's so straight and flat and thin.... DH said it will hard to notice once it's fully healed. My surgeon did such a great job.

The estrogen patch seems to be doing the trick for me. No hot or cold flashes, no mood swings, I'm sleeping great, I've got no pain to speak off, my bowels are working great and I've dropped about 10 lbs since before I had the surgery. All in all, I'm feeling on top of the world. I'm not ready to go back to work yet, just simply because I think it's still too soon. I'm not scheduled to go back to work until the 28th and I've decided that will be soon enough. I originally thought I might try to go back the week of the 21st, but I've decided to stay home and enjoy the rest.

Hope everyone is doing well

Has anyone noticed if their vagina looks different? I think mine might just be swollen and its tender to the touch when I wash in the shower. Kinda achy feeling? I had my DH look today and he agrees it looks different but wasn't worried. Why am I so worried? I'm afraid it won't go back to normal. Someone please tell me they're experiencing the same thing?!!

Lady4-Don't envy the foot surgery. Been there, done that, no thanks on a repeat. Good luck!
As for increased taste, & vision, I wish. I seem to only have increased hearing. I've been hearing noises that DH hasn't, the dogs have, just not him, so he looks at me like I'm losing my mind. (Close, but not yet. ) Wierd! I've had 3 previous abdom surg, and never had a reaction like this. Yes, taste tooka couple days to return, but not weeks. Guess I'll wait and see, then relearn how to cook if it doesn't come back.
BlueWillow- Congrats! I'm glad you are doing so well. My Dr didn't put me on any HRT. I was already starting menapause, even at 45, before surg. DM and DGM both had hysters in their late 30's-early 40's, with no HRT, and minimal flashes etc. I hope I'm like them. I was having night sweats before surg. I've had a few hot flashes, then sweats. They are only for a few minutes, then only a few times in a 24 hour period. To think I used to be freezing at night, now I kick off the covers.
It's clouding over, and cooling off again. Weather was up to 55 today, and we opened all the windows. It smelled so good having the fresh air in the house. Not a common thing for here in January. Also after the other day being -9, 55 is like a heat wave. Tomorrow is supposed to be 62, yet with showers. Our 7 inches of snow has melted away, and now it's just muddy. I can't wait to wash my floors. The dogs are tracking in everything, and DH is great at the vaccumming, but I have 100 year hard wood, and there's just a certain way to wash these floors. They haven't been resealed, so they get oiled. Lots of work, but they look great when your done.
DM is here to make beef stroganoff, so I will chat with you all later.
Stay rested, and keep healing well.

I had a TAH so my it did not come out my vagina but I did have a bladder sling and they had to cut just inside the opening. That is healing fine but I can still feel the stitches and there is a ridge of scar tissue that was not there before. I will have to make sure the stitches are gone before my honey goes there. Those stitches are sharp.

The women I have spoken with say their vagina's are normal but just a little dryer. I have not noticed this yet. But I am glad I don't pee anymore when I sneeze or cough.

As for nice weather some of you are having. SHHH some of us live in Maine. I have been listening to snow fall off the roof all day. Sounds like a bunch of kids roller skating on the roof.

I haven't looked down there yet, but I have noticed that it is itchy and achy especially when I cough or sneeze. I told my DH yesterday..."oh my gosh my vagina relly hurts" he just shook his head and told me to take my pain pills. Oh the joys in life. I am sure your vagina will look different especially if you had a tAH and they removed the cervix as you will have stiches up there where the cervix once was..I guess it's all part of the healing process!

Take care

Deb

Thanks for your replies. I had a TVH and its just the initial outter appearance out front that I noticed looks different. Like down the center is longer and swollen. Im sure it's just healing because it does feel so sore, but I just kinda panicked since it looks weird to me. I hadn't read about this anywhere else.
Im still taking all my pain pills during the day, not religiously, but as needed when I'm feeling especially uncomfortable. Is this bad, everyone else seems to be doing fine on OTC pain remedies.
