Lighter side question!

OK. Has anyone else been having really strange cravings. My mother said that this is part of menopause. I have replaced all regular food with Willy Wonka Super Stretchy Cherry Laffy Taffy. LOL

My mother said that when my Grandmother went through menopause she would have the house at 60 degrees and sit and eat Celery.Hahaha. I thought that was hilarious.

I also think that DH is having sympathy male menopause because he eats just as much cherry taffy as me.

I did start taking Premarin about 5 days ago and I can honestly say that emotionally I can tell a HUGE difference. I am feeling really great and more like myself. I just hope I do not experience and horrible side affects that I have heard about.

ok ladies here is a question for you. are you still using the percocet at night??? I have two left and have been using them every night or I just can't get in a good position to sleep. When they sent me home from the castle they wrote me a script for 20 tabs of percocet which I was taking 2 every 4 hours....when I went in the have my staples out (seeing a different md) I told him that I needed a refill as I had 3 left....he looked at me as if I was a drug addict because I needed more. So now that I only have two left and suppose to see my regular surgeon on Friday....do I ask for more or do I just deal with the pain because I should be needing them anymore eventhough I still seem too?????? sorry for the long post. I should know what to do....afterall I have seen MD's do this to their patents all of the time and it drives me crazy. thanks for the advice

I was actually able to sleep for a couple of hours. Thank you Jesus.
I've had those recently. Makes me think of that spiel by Ron White: "Ever take a dump so big your clothes fit better? I figure I'm a bowel movement away from a whole new wardrobe!"

As for me, I'm doing silly stuff. My husband took something out of the oven, and without thinking (or knowing that the meat was still cold, so...) I went to grab the meat thermometer without hot pads. I burned my fingers! I didn't know whether to laugh or cry!! I felt so stupid! Maybe this is what one of my friends meant when she said she felt like she was 12 years old after her hysterectomy.

In my opinion, you know your body better than anyone and you know your pain tolerance better than anyone. If you feel that you need more pain meds then ask. The worst thing that could happen is the doctor tell you that he would prefer you try to take something else and say no to the percocet. I am kind of going through the same thing. I took my last percocet and I am afraid I will not be able to sleep at night without them but I am going to give it shot. But if I can not handle it, I will be calling the doctor.

I've been trying not to take my heavy pain pills, just the motrin 800s. And today was another bad day with new pains that warranted taking a tylenol 3 with codeine as well. I have really sharp pains near where I would imagine my right ovary to be. It would shoot pain and send me yelping and doubling over in pain. I ended up spending all day on the couch and then retiring to bed after dinner. DH made dinner luckily, but I had to stand at the table to eat because the pain was too intense when I sat (note it wasn't too intense for me to skip a meal!!)
On that same note I have been eating ridiculously! I gained 10 lbs after our Cancun all inclusive in Oct and I certainly shouldn't be eating and lying around all day now. But lately its like when I get hungry, I HAVE to eat, and what I crave is total comfort foods or candy. I wonder if its my hormones all out of whack. My breasts are still unbelieveable sore, so I'm sure hormones are still acting out. Arg!

Hi everyone. I don't post much but enjoy reading yours. I can relate... There were a couple of quick dinner recipes posted a little while ago. I meant to print them, but didn't (of course!!!) and now I can't seem to find them. One was for a quick chow mein meal, I think. Anyone remeber

Just an update, I had mine on December 17th. My recovery for the most part has been effortless. Week 3 I started having emotional swings but the patch wasn't sticking so we switched to Premarin. The emotional swings are gone. I haven't felt so good in years. Cheers to 2008! To those that have scheduled surgeries, needing to schedule surgeries, or in post op, GOOD luck! Take care of yourself, take it easy! Don't sweat the small stuff! AND if you have any questions call your doctor or visit Hystersisters. This site has been a huge comfort for me.

i think im a bit out of the loop as i didnt have my overies out and not dealing I gave up all pain meds at start of second week (the minor aching keeps me in line when it comes to over doing) and i also gave up napping altogether. To be honest the pain meds were messing with my nerves, hormones or whatever you want to call it. Since Ive stopped them things are better. So now to rest, I read, sort through things or play on this thing.
This helps- even though- I do still toss and turn for about an hour before going to sleep and wake up occationally through out the night.

Good Morning ladies,
Just wanted to update you all and let you know that I am still here. It's been three weeks now, and I am feeling good. I still have good and bad days but I think that on the good days, I overdo it somewhat, and then I pay for a day. I think I woke up every two hours last night again even though I was tired out - I just couldn't sleep. My iron levels are still low, the dr seems to believe it was due to the heavy bleeding pre-op (I am supposed to take iron twice a day - but with the BM situation, I didn't dare take any for the two weeks after the surgery - I can't even imagine what it would've been like adding in the iron constipation that I get - ouch). The low iron aggravates my Restless Leg Syndrome and I think that's what keeps me from falling asleep. But I started the iron again this week so maybe in another week I will feel normal falling asleep again.
I am so glad to hear that many of you are feeling better too, and as for those who are still a little out of it and feeling blue, I keep reminding myself that this is still better than where I was when I agreed to the surgery - I couldn't drive 15 miles from home without soaking through my clothes with both a pad and a tampon on - at least that embarrassment is over (TMI). And it is getting better every day.
Hope you all have a wonderful day.
Hugs,
Jo

I say if your are still experiencing pain talk to your doc about it the worst they can say is NO. If anything they may give you something not as strong as percocet. I am allergic to percocet, darvocet and found out after the surgery Morphine. So I was sent home with 600mg Motrin, Pill form of Dilaudid, and Vicoden. I still have some Motrin and a whole bottle of the Vicoden.

I can soo relate to Bowel movement. I get weird sensations before I have to go, and boy do I fell soo much better when I am done.
