If you're an old fart, so am I! (though isn't 40 supposed to be the new 30?!) I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one, I do have good days and bad, but I do notice the farther out, the more discouraging the bad days get.

Please Tell Me That I Am Not The Only One......

Please tell me sisters that I am not the only one with these issues.

--At First I did not want to take the Premarin because this anxiety about having to take medication long term was eating away at me. Then I began crying all of the time, so a little over a week ago I started taking them and emotionally, I feel a lot better.

--Issue number two is the question of night sweats. Is it still too early to see this resolved by the premarin that I have been taking for the last week? I still have night sweats. My husband complains that our bedroom is hot as well but my two little guys are in the front of the house with a huge picture window in their room...so it is cold in there. Thus the heat is turned up but the sweating is still pretty strange because I never had it before the hyster.

--I had my appendix removed as well and that lower right side can get pretty sore....is this normal. I am no longer taking any pain meds (except the motrin 800s maybe twice a day) Yesterday I had really low grade fever that lasted about 2 hours but then I have been fine since then. The fever was 99.8 and 100.4?

---Some very light spotting every now and then when I wipe. May a total of 5 times since surgery.

Please tell me someone else has experienced any of these things. I really do not feel bad though just achey?

Hi Bethany,
The night sweats might be the dose isn't right on your HRT, the pharmacy gave me the wrong thing post-op and I was a mess, the doc gave me the right thing and said generics aren't as good. Menopause symptoms got better immediatly.

I had my appendix removed years ago, and if I remember correctly, that was much more painful than hysto recovery! Make sure your incisions aren't red and/or hot. But the fever thing, you should keep and eye on it, and call your doc, since you're taking Motrin, it may be masking, would probably be a good idea to call dr anyway.

How far out from surgery are you? I was told light spotting isn't a big deal for the first couple of weeks, if any heavy bleeding to call, increased pain/fever, call, etc., I've also heard you can have some spotting as the stitches disolve.

Bethany--you could put up heavy curtains in the boys' room for the winter and then be able to turn down the heat. I do that.

Anyone sleeping out there????? too bad we can't have a chat room this way at 2 in the morning we would have someone to talk to. I wasn't on during the night but did not have good sleep. I was up at 1:30 and 5:30 to go to the potty and then amused myself trying to go back to sleep until 6:30 when I finally turned on QVC. That's a good night time diversion because there is someone talking all night long...

How are you all doing weight wise...it was so nice the first couple of weeks the weight was coming off like a pound a day, I figured if that continued for a month I would be in a great place to start menopause...OK, didn't happen that way... I am down about 6 or 7 pounds, but without being able to exercise, every morsel seems to count.

What kinds of vitamin supplements are you guys taking? I thought I was all set but I don't think I am taking enough magnesium, ( impacts calcium absorption) Hope we all have a better night sleep tonight..... not sure what is on today's agenda....would love to browse a book store I think....

OK finished my coffee, need to disrobe.....anyone have a fan???? - Suzyq

Hi everyone, I'm three weeks post-op. The pain is much better, but I'm still using my last bottle of vicodin. I feel like if I call for more the Dr. might deny me. I need to wean myself off it. My other issue is they saved one ovary, and I thought that would negate my menopausal symptoms. It hasn't so far. So I'm on the Climara patch at 0.05mg. It seemed to help at first, but im back to night sweats, etc. I tried the higher dose, but the side effects were too much. My question is when dose the estrogren start working? Also can you cut a higher dose path down to adjust the amount? I'd like to change the low dose patch twice weekly, but it isnt prescribed that way. Does anyone know if it can be prescribed to change twice weekly or will insurance reject that? Thanks, Lynn

I am taking mutlivitamins and mineral from a company called Melaleuca. Good stuff but pricey. I also take their probiotics, antioxidants and heart health supplements.

Bethany....I just stopped spotting yesterday at 3.5 weeks. I was worried about it as well but dr. wasn't concerned. I atill check every time I wipe though. Maybe some day I will sto that.....lol

Good morning everybody,

Suzyq, I wish I'd known someone else was up half the night too. I was up at 4, then 5, then 6:30 and gave up after that. I have been doing better with the insomnia, but since my son brought his 13 year old lab back home to stay with us she's been disrupting what normal sleep I've been getting.
(Long story short, my son is now traveling for his job and can't take care of his dog...he's only 22 and has had the dog since 4th grade). I didn't feel like I had much choice in taking her, and she is in worse shape than I am!

On the weight issue, I too am down about 7 or 8 pounds. I'm really hoping that it will be more when I'm back to normal though. My GYN told me to expect a weight gain of about 10 pounds the first month post op, but that it would come off. I know that I must be doing okay because my stomach is still so swollen. I wore my jeans home from the hospital and they were okay except that they wouldn't button. Now they don't even begin to zip and I'm still down 8 pounds. Any ideas on that one??

I am 47 and am trying to take it easy during recovery. I've seen too many people have to go back for repairs. I initially thought this would be a piece of cake (LAVH/BSO) and was thinking of going back to work parttime after about 2 weeks. My biggest complaint of all was insomnia. Now though, I'm as careful as I can realistically be with little to no help around the house. I've been checking in reading the posts every day or two so I've been keeping up somewhat with everyone's recovery. I'm thankful for the feedback since I've yet to have a post op visit. Mine is scheduled for the 16th which will be four weeks post op. I'd really have been a mess without this forum.

Hope you and everyone else have a good day.

surgery on20th/Radiation?'s

Hey is anyone taking along time to feel no pain? I am trying to only do my pain med when I first get up and late afternoon or close to bedtime. Is it my age(55) and weight issues or is it just me. I am down 5lbs from the day I went into surgery so I have lost a total of 37lbs. now :-) I have alot of lower back pain too I guess from 2 weeks in that dang hosp-bed. It liked to kill me.
But I wondered with my big tummy he probably had to really do a lot of stitches inside of me, Could that be a factor? Anyways I was wondering has anyone else had Endometrial Cancer? He said mine is 1b,Grade3 Agressive!!
So my chance of a recurrance is 30-35% So he wants me to under go Radiation to the pelvic and lower abdomon area. I think it is internally done thru the vagina. Has anyone had this done??? He said I will go for it for everyday for 2 months. PLEASE if anyone has done this let me know. He said it will bring my chances of recuuance down to 10-20%
Well hug's to all, Let me hear from you.
