F and R - I tried to answer your PM if it didn't work let me know and I will try to initiate one....I am not computer gifted.

I am interested in pilates but can't do it myself. I tried with a DVD and it was a disaster. I actually almost ordered one of the contraptions from QVC with the pulleys and the slide and rebounder, it looked interesting, but I think I would need to builid up again before I could do that. I was looking in my area for classes. So much is focused on the core and that is not a strong point for me. One reason I am looking forward (hopefully) for a TT this summer is becasue I have so much damage to the muscles from c-sections that the rear muscle wall pushes up when I do ab work, and it looks like the alien it trying to get lose. I have short, stocky muscles, I would love the long lean muscles that pilates can develop, so it is something I am looking into. I think I would love to take like private or semiprivate lessons to get started, that would be a luxury but for me, more productive in the long run than just jumping in to a class....anything that keeps us moving and flexible is really important.... - Suzyq

Hi Tina, I had mine the same day as you and I am not feeling back to normal yet either. My belly gets swollen too if I do too much but my bleeding has stopped. My doctor put some silver (nitrate)? on the parts that were bleeding and that took care of it and that was at my first post op appt. a wk after the surgery. Sleeping is not possible without zanax. I think I have to get my hormone under control and we are working on that with the bioidentical version. I don't know if you're an old fart! If you're as old as me then you are! (55) Just kidding!!!! Actually I never felt like I was an old fart until I had this surgery. I sure hope things get better soon, because a month of this is a lot and I want things back to normal. I'm sure you do too! Wear an abdominal binder support that you can get @ CVS or some place like that and it will help with the swelling. Good luck with everything and keep me posted on your progress............Kathy from NJ

I have not worn my belly binder since the end of week one. Everyone is talking about bleeding. I stopped bleeding after about 3 days. Occasionally an internal stitch will come out down there and I will spot from that but that is all. I wonder what was done differently for me.

I am not bragging but grateful not to have any complications especially since I just had foot surgery. So far that is doing ok too. The crutches causing some pain is about the extent of my issues.

lady4carousels..... I'm glad you posted that about no bleeding. I had a bit of spotting at the hospital, but I haven't had any since I came home. Nothing. I haven't seen any sign of stitches coming out either. I had a TAH/BSO. I have had a bit of white-ish discharge but that's it. I guess we are all just different in the way our bodies respond to this surgery... AND it seems that doctors don't all approach it the same way either.

I'm so grateful for this site so that we can all compare stories, but we all need to realize that we will each heal differently and at our own different time frames. Sometimes when I read about someone doing alot more than I can at this point, I start to think something is wrong with me... but then someone else will come along who's not doing AS MUCH as me yet, so I guess we need to remember to just listen to our own bodies as best we can and certainly NOT push it just because we read where someone else who had the same surgery around the same time as us is doing more. My sister-in-law had the same TAH as me back in Aug. By 10 days post-op she was driving her son to school already!! I JUST started driving yesterday which is 3 weeks after my surgery.... My mom-in-law reminded me that i'm 10 yrs. older than my sis-in-law too, which could have something to do with it!! :-)

We are all going to be FINE very soon!! Keep the faith!!

I've not bled since leaving the hospital either and thankfully have had a complication free recovery. I'm back to doing everything again, including taking a bath, exercising, all the house work (yippee), lifting, etc. I'm still taking off next week just to get some stuff done that I've not been able to do up until now. I feel awesome and I'm ready to take on the world

suzyq- i got your message fine! and i emailed you back directly.
I didnt see your post about pilates til after the email though. I have leslie sansones dvd called "you can do pilates." it is the very basic moves and it really does help lengthen muscles. i used it alot before surgery to stregthen my core area...
To others: i have not tried pilates since my TAH. Susyq is right, it is very big on core strength, but would not do it without a dr. ok.

I have not had any bleeding since hospital either, just the slight discharge of off white from time to time.

I have the Stott version a couple of the level one series. I am waiting for my 6 week date so I can ask for release from the dr. I could really tell a difference but it got to where it was irritating everything inside.

You're all talking exercise and I'm feeling like a sludge filled bag of bones! Is anyone else out there absolutely pooped at 3.5 weeks? The last couple of days I have NO energy. I don't hurt much, and I want to get things done, but I'm so tired I can't stand it. Maybe it's the insomnia, but I've had insomnia for years, somehow this feels different than just needing a good nights sleep. I'm dreading this week and all the things I know I have to get done, all I want to do is climb in bed and stay there! I could watch workout videos in bed, does that count???

Tommorow will be 4 weeks for me and I am tired too! I have been trying to push myself a little because tommorow is my first full day back to work. I'm not concerned about going to work with the achey feelings, I'm more concerned about how tired I get after doing little stuff like the dishes or dusting. I haven't had any problems with not being able to sleep at night, but I still get exhausted during the day. It's frustrating because I am a very active person and I have to stop when I get that tired. Anyway, just wanted to let ya know I'm right there with ya!
