Welcome to the forum! Try some stool softener, and also make sure you are drinking plenty of liquids.

I take pain meds all the time, I'm not proud. Rx Motrin during the day, and Vicodin at night (since it makes me sleepy). Even without the meds would be OK, but I can move around more with them.

And go easy on yourself. Each one of us is having a different experience with recovery.

Believe me, we bought a pre-fab ham dinner at the store, so my husband could handle it! And I overdid a bit yesterday, so I'm going to coast today. But my 1 week dr. appt. went really well!

I so want to have a glass of Amarula tonight -- liqueur from South Africa, my sis bought it for me when she was there. I haven't been able to try it yet!

Have a good day to day everyone. Don't over do it. I am lucky, we are having Christmas at my moms. She has barred me from doing anything so I get to go and just watch everyone else work....it will drive me crazy.

thanks to everyone, this web site has been so wonderful!!

Merry Christmas everyone!
I had a TVH on 12/18/07. Everything went well, no complications. I came home from the hospital on 12/20, and things have been great. But now I have one concern... my bleeding had practically stopped, (just barely visible brownish smudges on my pad) yesterday, but now this morning, the bleeding is definetly back! Like when I was still in the hospital. Is this normal? I feel fine otherwise, and I haven't overdone anything, my family won't even let me carry a roll of toilet paper! So, is this something I should be concerned about? Anybody out there have some words of wisdom? Thanks in advance, and Merry Christmas everyone!

Gina- about the BM, have someone go and get you some Senakot S, I have been taking 2 in the am and then 2 at bedtime. worked like a charm today. the percocet is very constipating so give it a try. if no luck let me know and I can give you other suggestions.

Thanks Deb sent DS to get me some so I will try it drinking lots of water but of course that is only making me PEEEEEEEEEEEE

Lizee sorry I had some spotting in Castle but nothing since I left I am sure someone might be able to answer make sure you talk to Doc first thing in the AM unless they have a "talk to a nurse" line at the Castle you can call to get some answers right away....I would not worry to much but you need to call someone to ease your mind. Good Luck Merry Christmas

P.S. I Love this site sooo glad I found it.

suzyq- so sorry you ended up with the full blown thing. that is whole lot more to think about. a family friend who is a dr. told me to let him know if i had any hormone issues- he says they make a saliva test to see if you need more or less of certain homones and can regulate them that way. (using the natural type) luckliy i dont need any at the moment but its nice to know whats out there.
i am trying to ween myself off the xanex today. its pretty calm around here and took a tyl. 3 for now. I would like to switch to the motrin maybe tomorrow. or later today. the pain isnt bad til i try to move.
my oldest son and i got into it the first night i was home. he wanted to run off with his girlfriends family. i told him to get his prorities inline. today he called after their lunch to see if i needed him home tomorrow or if it would be ok if he did something with her. guess i got the point across.
i see a couple of posts about the lab results. my dr. said everything looked ok - but of course they have to send everything to the lab. any idea if the dr. calls you with results. or should i call him later in the week to check?

Merry Christmas to all of us!
I had my surgery on Thurs, 12/20 at 1130 am, had more pain than I have EVER had all day after I woke up, was slightly better on Friday. On Friday they removed the cath and the iv and pain pump and put me on Percoset. Saturday they released me and sent me home. I thought I was gonna DIE on the way home (mostly just nausua) and then got into bed and slept for the rest of the day. On Sunday, my hubby had to finish shopping (well, almost finish) so he left me with the 3 dogs and the phone. I spent the day resting and wrapping a few gifts. Monday was SO much better - I wrapped all the rest and watched every Christmas movie I could find. Today, I woke late, ate sweet rolls, and talked to the family (who will not be here until Wednesday) and sat at the computer. Pain isn't GREAT, but is manageable. I keep crying, though - partially because my kids are at their dad's, and partially becuase I am still in mourning for the loss of part of my body. I am supposed to be fully in menopause, but am again having hot flashes (I guess becuase they ended up taking my ovaries, against the plans, because of lots of adhesions and endometirosis) but I will get through it. Wish I could just stop crying, though. My hubby doesn't get it at ALL - thinks I should just be recovering. Everybody that I have taked to around here who has had a hysterectomy says it's no big deal, I'll be back at work in a few weeks and all will be great - but how do I get though right NOW??
Sorry, guess I am looking for sympathy...

Everyone heals differently, so don't try to measure yourself up against anyone else's healing -- especially if you're making adjustments in the hormone dept.

I was upset last night for the first time since the surgery, cuz I couldn't be at church singing like I usually do on Christmas Eve. Otherwise I feel lpretty good, which shock the heck outta me, cuz I expected to be worse off than I am.
