fit and ready - I'm MI also and my brother struggles from the very same thing! He is really struggling with being so close to border and all that it offers. He actually signed up for some type of "self banning" thing where he had his picture taken and gave his name to the surrounding casinos so they wouldn't allow him in to gamble. I don't think people know just how addicting gambling really is. It is a very sad thing. My brother is a good man (Christian also) as I'm sure your mom is a good woman but like the other post said we all struggle with our issues. I wish there were better help out there for gamblers, we searched everywhere for help but didn't find any, let me know if you find something useful. Stay strong!

On a lighter note, you ladies are wonderful with all your post and help for each other.
Have any movie rentals that I must see before I go back to work? I want to laugh more.
Hubby is making chocolate shakes, yum yum... just what I need to help me fit back into my pants. I had to wear them unzipped yesterday???? Don't know what happened????
Have a great night.

suzyq.......i've played the Mohegan Sun twice. Once in the little area in the middle of the casino, i think it's the fox's den or something like that. The second time we were in the big arena there. That is ONE BIG casino! Yikes! ... and a LONG bus ride from Nashville! LOL Not sure about Foxwoods.. that's not ringing a bell.

fit&ready... Mount Pleasant is the one where Grandma goes!! I played there a couple of years ago as well. My MIL and FIL live outside of Ann Arbor ( a little town called Manchester) and they have a cabin up north near Ludington...?? I think that's right... anyway, they said there are more casinos up there that Grandma likes to go to when they are up at the cabin. Plus an act I was playing with earlier this year was playing at St. Ignace?? .. or something like that. I saw it on our schedule.. but I quit right before they went up there so I didn't make that trip. Anyway, sounds like there are plenty to choose from. There isn't any gambling at all in TN. I agree with the other gals... it's an addiction and hopefully you can convince your Mom to seek out some help. Especially if it's affecting her life and her relationships with her loved ones! I'll say a prayer for you!!

Soprano... you are TOO funny! "What rhymes with va-ja-ja"!! Ha! I have had some other songwriter friends saying that I should write a song about what I've been through. I've definitely learned alot about patience, and facing my control issues! Learning to let my family do the laundry THEIR way and not MY way has been an experience, let me tell ya!!

Ok.. my DS is about to be on GAC so I have to go!! I AM a proud mama!!

Hope everyone sleeps well tonight! I'm hoping for two in a row!!

Hugs to you all.....

OH! About the clothes thing.... I found some awesome black "yoga" pants at Target that are SO comfortable. They are fitted somewhat in the thighs and have a bit of a flare at the bottom so they look a little dressier, depending on what kind of top you put with them. I love them so much that i went back and bought two more pairs!! I also got some comfy long-sleeved v-neck t-shirts for $6.00 each (got several colors) that are loose fitting and that's my post-op uniform direct from Target! All their winter stuff is on sale, so you can get some temporary stuff to wear pretty cheap. Of course, i don't have to go into an office so I can dress very casually... at least until I have to get back on stage. That's what I'm dreading. I hope I can fit back into my stage clothes!! Yikes!

Texoma2, I havent started radiation yet I go to the Doc's on the 25th of Jan and he is going to introduce us to the Dr that'll do it. The oncologist said it would be 40 treatments but from what I've read on this site that seems a bit excessive like 2 X's what everyone else has had done. I have lots of ?'s for them B4 I do this. They took 40 Lymphs and NO CANCER!! The wash was also cancer cell free, The cancer had ate 1/2 way thru the uterus muscle and it is an Agressive form Grade 3, He said it will bring my chance of recurrance from 30-35% down to 10-20%, So I dont know, I just wish I could see more evidance that it will really help. It seems like I'd be able to find something on it. All I have had is encouraging messages tho from all the sisters, I just think 40 seems like alot. Well thanks again, Hug's

MiMiLu....

I don't know if this is helpful at all... but my MIL just had surgery for breast cancer on Jan. 9th. She is set for radiation. 5 days a week for seven weeks, so that's 35 treatments. I thought that seemed like alot too, but maybe it's more typical than I thought. They didn't find cancer in her lymphs either, so no chemo. That was a relief. Hang in there.... Hugs.

Hey Girls, I hate to be a party pooper, but I'm wicked uncomfrtable tonight! I'm actually thinking about taking my first pain pill in weeks! I feel like somebody is whacking me in the back and lower belly, and I wish they'd quit it! I did nothing today, actually woke up exhausted (the Ambien helps with sleep yeay!) so I made breakfast and took a nap! I can't blame it on doing too much. Oh bother!

I have so neglected my hystersisters I am truly sorry- my surgery date was oct 13- 2006 wow a long time ago... it seems life has moved on, recovery was difficult for me it seemed i was really weak for a long time, I am currently on estrace and seem to be doing ok, i do unfortunately have a problem with recurring yeast infection, is there anything anyone suggests? should i go back to see my ob/gyn that did the surgery? i went to the dr for this round for meds but im concerned that the hormones are causing it to reoccur and if so what can i do about it? can anyone help me?

Well Ladies - I'm back from my night with the girls and had to report because it was so fun (and the hubby is dwnstrs watching his tvo'd supercross race while I lay in bed awake).

Being out was great, although half a margarita did me pretty good. The other one and a half margaritas were even better!! Jk! But really, dinner was so fun to catch up with everyone and it was nice to be able to grab a drink and dinner with friends.
We got to the movies a little late and ended up sitting in the front row of a packed theater, but 27 Dresses was so fun! We loved it!

It was cute because my DH and DD were waiting for me out front of the movies so I said my goodbyes to the girls and climbed in for my ride home! We live almost an hour away from the theater and downtown so I was so appreciative that my DH was excited for me to have a night out and wait around.

I felt really "normal" and "able" tonight so there's some hope for work on the horizon. I too have been pretty afraid, especially since our new Pres started the week I left and has been changing everything up fast and furious since. I'm not just going back to work, but jumping right into a tornado!!

I also do a lot of community work and am chairing a big fundraising event in April as well as helping with another in May - so reality is going to hit all at once when I return to "life" on the 28th. Yikes!!

I'm a big country music fan too - although we really listen to just about everything as well. Please tell me everyone here has at least tried playing Guitar Hero?!! We're not big vid game ppl, but that game is taking over!! So fun to play with friends. Not so fun to play while on painkillers after surgery though - quite embarrassing!! Especially when you couple that with an inherent lack of reflexes - but enough for tonight!

Sleep well!

curley 88 - thanks for the idea about self- banning. i think i read something about that once- of course then we would have to get her to admit her addiction. but its an idea.
annie- congrats on your ds appearnce on GAC! Sounds like you know michigan pretty well. I love to camp over in Ludington. its beautiful. And yes we have way to many casinos in michigan! I have heard many like the ones on the west side of the state and also the upper penisula the best.
I havent spoke to my mom yet this morning... i did get a hold of her last night while she was still there. she gave me a hundred excuses why she was there, at that point i just told her i loved her and to please go home. I also told her that i didnt need this right now and i needed to take care of myself. guilt trip i suppose.

Funny thing how creativeness can come out of this experience. My ds made me a get- well artwork. (Keep in mind my fibroid was described as the size of an orange.) He did this abstract drawing with b/w leafs with the colored orange coming out of it. Sensative guy or what? i was so touched.

I didn't write much but definitely read these posts often! Most of you are at a different place in your lives married, with families, etc. but let me tell you, I needed to read what everyone else was going through and not drive my parents (staying at their house during my recovery...) and boyfriend crazy. I feel pretty much back to normal except for waiting and waiting to get to work out...and my bf and I just planned a trip to Brekenridge and Big Bend during the school I teach at's spring break (beg. of March)...hoping to be able to be active there...and also fit into my bikini without a swelled up belly!

Before everyone signs off for good (I don't go back to work until 2/4) I have a couple questions:

Is everyone still a little swollen in the stomach region? I think it's probably normal, but I used to have toned abs and a flat stomach...it's disappeared. ...for good?!?!

Anyone have recommendations for daily vitamin(s)? I was taking one that I didn't like...
