vaginal bleeding and passing of tissue

Ok ladies, I am three weeks out from my vaginal hysterectomy and now am experiencing vaginal bleeding and passing of these huge pieces of tissue that I swear could be organs. My doctor keeps telling me that the incision site looks great, but I just can not believe that this is normal. I did not have any bleeding until now. Has anyone else had this happen to them. I realize this is TMI and I am completely embarrassed, but this is freaking me out.

elainebenes,

You need to ask these questions to your doctor, asap. Don't wait for office hours. Call his service and have him paged.

You mention bleeding - is it red blood, and how much? When was the last time that the doctor checked you? What about getting a second opinion?

Not to be gross, but can you describe the tissue? Is it like a clot or what? I would call the doc asap and tell them, if you aren't happy, go to the ER!

When I passed a clot the width of a softball, I called my doctor's office immediately and was told to come in immediately. I did end up being a slow healer and bled for three months though I didn't pass clots after that particular day.

I hope you get in touch with your doctor soon! S

Elainebenes,

I would get a second opinion this doesn't sound normal to any information I have received or read about.

My instructions I went home with said to contact my Gyn if I had heavy blood flow.

I see that you had your surgery 2 days after mine and looks to be the same type. I hope that you get the answers you need.

Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers.

My surgery was December 3 and I have been having some light bleeding also. My doctor said as long as it is not heavy it is normal. I wanted to go back to work this week but it doesn't look like that is going to happen. I just wish I would stop bleeding. It is red or pinkish. Anyone else have the same thing going on.

Ompalompa - I also had my TVH on 12/3. I too am still bleeding, and was wondering when I would stop. I am planning on returning to work tomorrow PT until after New Years - then hopefully FT. I feel ok - not fantastic - but I'm fine to go to work. I just sit there all day anyway - nothing strenuous or stressful.

As far as passing tissue - Ok that is Nasty - but Im glad you shared. Last week I woke up to bright red/black blood bleeding. I was passing clots I would say quarter size. I immediatley called my doctor, and went in. She said my vaginal cuff was all intact, that I could have popped a stitch, and as I slept through the night the blood pooled in the vagina and clotted, and once I got up gravity took effect. I was hysterical, but she reassured me everything was okay.

I would definatley call my doctor if I were you. It may be normal, it may not, but they need to make that decision. Please let us know what they say.

i'd call your dr and ask to be seen today. its probably just leftover blood from the surgery and not a problem unless you are running a fever or changing pads every hour. it should be checked though. if he checked you since you started bleeding and has told you everything looks good, i wouldnt worry about it unless it increases a lot.

thanks ladies for all of the info. I think I am going to have to get a second opinion because I did see the dr. yesterday and she stated that every thing is ok and that this is "normal" due to the stitches dissolving. How can this be normal when I have ruined two pair of pants and panties. I have never run a fever yet, and when I go to the dr. there is no blood left in the "hole." I am 32 and from all of the info. read, this is not what I signed up for.
