Do any of you experiance hearing from your family (mine is my MOTHER) if you have taken your hormone pill...today??

I tell you what I am so sick of hearing it I am about ready to go hormonal on them!
They just say it and laugh! Like it is something that I can control.

Yes, I may be grippy to my kids and/or husband. But I am a right now stay at home mother, 5 1/2 weeks recovering, we have had ice storms~which I had to deal with all on my own~husband out of town. No school for 3 days so 9 year old son was home causing trouble with 3 year old sister. Maybe that explains a lot of my "hormonal symptoms"!

I am really dreading Christmas this year as we will be at my parents house for 4 days and I just don't know how to handle it. I am about ready to just tell her, that it isn't funny anymore!! How do you or have you handled all of this???

Any advice is greatly appreciated!
Thanks for listening!
Becky

I feel for you! No one has the nerve to say anything to my face about it, but I do get looks as if I am crazy! I completely understand your situation at home. It has snowed here as well and I have a 10 yr old son who has been tormenting my 4 yr old son. I think they(family) just all think that hormones are the only reason we can be stressed. Perhaps next time you can tell your mother that if she helped more with your kids you would be in a better mood? There is not enough hormones in the world when it comes to 3 snow days alone with the kids w/out help. Good luck.

I know how you feel...boy, do I know how you feel. My Mom has similar problems.

Try to be gentle and kind to yourself and think about staying home this Christmas. I did, last year, and was so much happier than being with insensitive people and listening to hurtful, ignorant comments. My kids were happy to stay home too.

I sure hope you have a great Christmas ...you deserve some peace.

I guess my answer would be wrong --

I would say thank you for reminding me -- i will go take it -- but would you like me to get you your compassion pill -- because obvcisouly you forgot to have any.

Snow and ice storms will drive everyone crazy -- didn't you just say that you son was irritating the 3yr old -- and noone sees anything wrong with that ?
No one remembers that you are recovering from major surgery/
no one remembers that the dad is not home -- kids have a tendency to act out more when that happens.

All i can say is take a deep breath and it will be better soom.

send the kids out to build a snow fort --

Someone on another board I frequent has the signature: "Would you like Immodium for your running mouth?"

And a t-shirt I saw online: "You're the reason I take my medication."

Certainly not Christmas-like...but maybe find a funny button or little sign you can pin on and wear. Then you won't have to say ANYTHING.

Love that t-shirt! Very funny!
It's great to have a sense of humor when people are acting like insensitive boobs!

LOL!!! I agree with this. I have a fantastic mug, and it says "...and yet, despite the look on my face, you're STILL TALKING"

I am sorry your Mother was insensitive; obviously she has forgotten how harrowing it can be to raise children when you are in good health, let alone just a few weeks post-op with no help! I have not had anyone say this to me, but know how upset I was when my daughter said she always wanted a sister (she was cuddling my friends daughter at the time), and my dear sister replied, "Be careful what you wish for, you might just get it." She went on to add, her eldest daughter had wanted a sister, and when she got her, she changed her mind! I recall saying in a quietly calm voice, "Hello, have we forgotten why I am here?" I know where she was coming from, and was not angry, just wanted to remind her it was a very touchy subject for me. I had been having a hard time being in the ward which was attached to Maternity and the Nursery and I was just holding on to my composure, as I spent a lot of time crying whilst I was there, when no one was looking.
I know she did not mean to hurt me, but it did. Our loved ones are used to being able to say anything around us, but sometimes we need them to be silent, when we are emotionally fragile.
I would call your mum, and tell her quietly and respectfully that whilst you know she was only tom fooling with you, at the moment you are emotionally and physically fragile, and need a little understanding, because you are coping with the children and the house on your own.
I would also go to Christmas and let them wait on you for the entire 4 days. Let others keep an eye on the children and get as much rest as you can over that time.
Whatever happens, you are in my thoughts and prayers.
