Questions about HPV Vaccine

This has just become available here, and girls/women are being encouraged by the Ministry of Health to go for it.

Problem is, the MoH hasn't added it to the "basket of services" HMOs are required to provide.

It's not cheap == US$625, or US$ 415 for people who are paying HMO supplements.

I assume in Canada it's covered by National Health?

Questions about HPV Vaccine

Not covered here in BC yet although I hear it will be eventually.

Our daughter is 20, not sexually active yet, and is having her 2nd dose on Thursday (given over 6 month period). It cost us $450 but we think it's well worth it.

I have 3 nieces under the age of 13 and hope the vaccine will be available to them sooner than later.

Questions about HPV Vaccine

Our youngest DD just turned 24 this month and at the end of Nov. had the last of the 3 Gardasil injections...

She was fortunate enough to still be covered under our insurance as she is a full time collage student...If not for that it would have been $450....Her total ended up to be $60..... thank God for that!!!!!

Questions about HPV Vaccine

I am not Canadian, but in NY. My oldest daughter is 13 and just had her second dose of guardisil. We only pay the copay, but I think it is worth it. My youngest is 7 and I will give it to her as soon as they let me. The studies are very promising and whatever I can guard them from I will. I will say that she did have some pain at the injection sight both times, but that seems like a small price to pay. I hope it is covered for you soon.
