No period

Now to most of you this seems like heaven. Has anyone had the problem of no periods for an extended time

The short of my story is: I had part of my cervix removed for CIS in July along with a tubal and I have had no period since February. Bloodwork came back fine. We have tried several therapies, sonogram and dilation of my cervix still nothing. This is just one of my symptoms...I am being scheduled for hysterectomy (for severe pain etc... but no date yet. ) No fibroids that we know of.

No period

Most of my periods from the time I started them at age 13, were very heavy and quite painful. My hysterectomy was ultimately done due to dysfunctional uterine bleeding, fibroids, and adenomyosis. I was 41 at that time.

There was a time in my life, I guess in my late 20's - mid 30's when I wasn't taking birth control pills that I usually only had 2 - 3 periods a year. My doctor could find no reason for it. I had hormone tests done and they appeared fine. It just seemed to be me. I never had any abnormal paps or surgeries and never had an answer as to why. It really remains a mystery.

Of course with time, all of that began to change and the heavy bleeding and pain were there every month again. My periods became more regular and just a time of the month I dreaded.

I'm sorry you have pain. I can relate to that. I hope you're able to find some answers. I have always felt like my doctor's 'woman of mystery' since my problems don't seem to have a specific cause that can be easily identified. I guess I'll always be somewhat of a puzzle.

I wish you the best! Let us know how you're doing!

s, Deb

No period

Thanks Deb, I can totally relate with the "woman of mystery" My GYN has called upon other docs in her practice about me also. I started my period aroung the same age and was always heavy with clots until they vanished. Wish all the rest of the symptoms would have vanished too....lol. I am going to the doc today for scheduling so I will report back.

Thanks again.

No period

My cycle has never been "normal". It wasn't unusal for me to go up to nine months (not pregnant) without a period, and then some years I would have a period for weeks and weeks on end. I was never in any pain. I tried the pill, but it wasn't good for my emotions. Then I had a hysteroscopy to remove a small fibroid in my uterus believed to be the cause of the bleeding. It worked for two years, then here we are again. Finally, after week 9 of my period, at the age of 38, my doctor asked me how I felt about a hysterectomy. I said "Finally!". The waiting was the worst part and it was all downhill from there.
