I hate pooping.....

Sarah, hang in there. You're a week behind me & I can't tell you what a difference the 2nd week makes. As long as I follow the "diet" I mentioned above, I don't have problems. Miralax is fabulous, but I haven't needed it for 2-3 days now. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

I hate pooping too!!!! It hurts sooo bad. My Dr. removed a pocket in my colon right by my anus. That does not help at all!!!

Don't forget to check out the great recipes in the cookbook forum here on HysterSisters. I found some delicious bran muffin recipes there. Also, I"ve tried hard to eat something fresh and fiber-filled every day ~ apple slices, green salad, cole slaw, carrot-raisin salad, etc. Raisin Bran with a little lowfat milk is a good snack too. All the while, I keep taking my stool softeners to keep things smooooooooooth. hugs~

I hate pooping.....

It isn't that my actual poop hurts...I am not constipated at all. It is the process that hurts....my insides hurt and I can feel it traveling, sorry I know I am gross!!

Teacherangel, I agree completely. I am not constipated either. It is the pressure inside that hurts. You're not being gross. You are being honest!

I agree. The travel process for me was far worse than actually going. I think it's just because things are swollen, sensitive, and trying to heal in there.

I hate pooping.....

Hi gals, I am 2 weeks post-op as of today. Had LAVH (uterus, cervix and endo removed). The first 10 days or so I was miserable about going poo. The long and the short of it is I couldn't. When I did, it looked like little rabbit pebbles. I went to the doc and she said I was dehydrated. I usually don't drink that much during the day, just a couple of cups of coffee. She told me to go back to that routine and drink more. She also prescribed stool softener (Colace). Unfortunately, that did not work. This past Monday I decided enough was enough and started drinking apple juice from about 7 a.m. to noon. It was successful, I was able to go about 4 times and with the last was totally cleaned out. Yes, there was a lot of pain. And yes, I did pray my way through it. But, I also have had bouts of IBS that have been worse (like giving birth and sitting on the toilet for 4 hours at a time). So, this was definitely better. I would highly recommend the apple juice. Drink lots. You may have to force yourself to, like I did. But, it was totally worth it. I hope this helps. Just an add on - I don't know if you are still on pain killers or not. I knew constipation was going to be a problem for me so I stopped the meds a day after I came home. I take T3's with codeine (when needed) and advil (mostly headaches).

I hate pooping.....

I've been taking dulcolax, 1-2 in the morning and one at night. The one time I missed, I got so backed up it bled.

As long as I take them though, it hurts more to pee than it does to poop. My bladder is still healing from the shock of the surgery and catheter.

I was wondering how long this would last, I hope it's better by 4 weeks.

Yes, I agree that it is not gas-related. Maybe stitches/incision related? Your post confirmes that I am not crazy - talked to other women who didn't understand what I was describing.

My pain FINALLY subsided in the middle of week 4 (about 4 days ago). I am also passing some of my stitches now (sorry for the detail). Am feeling much better. Hang in there!
