Getting Playful After Surgery

How soon after surgery can you start getting creative and playful with your man? I know no intercourse for at least 6 weeks, but how long do I have to hold out for playing?

I had my 2 week checkup today & was given the green light for external stimulation, including the Big O! However, your doc may have different advice, so I'd wait & see what he/she says. Good luck.

Getting Playful After Surgery

My doc OK'd orgasm from the beginning, whenever I was ready. Manual, external stimulation only. First O was gentle and a little cautious. There was a little nervousness at first, kind of like having to get used to how your body works with new parts, but each orgasm seems to get easier and stronger and better. After my 2 week check, he said oral was OK too, but still nothing in the vagina until 6 weeks. I'm only at 16 days now, but will say have enjoyed the last two in particular! My doc said that for a few months, there is still a lessening in responsiveness but not to worry about it, it will improve. I'm happy to say I haven't noticed anything lessened, only smoother, full Os. Good luck with your recovery.

I've had 2 Os since my doc gave me the green light. Both were quite enjoyable, and DH and I are happy to be able to play around.

Getting Playful After Surgery

My doctor, at discharge from castle, said "nothing in the vagina for 6 weeks, but there are other things you can do." It's seems that it would depend on your doctors recommendation for your situation. But it appears many don't have to wait the entire 6 weeks to "play around".

I really didn't feel like doing much until after 6 weeks, but had to wait for 7 weeks. I didn't ask about "other things" since i really didn't feel like it.

Getting Playful After Surgery

Hi Ladies

It's really important to follow your doctor's recommendations regarding sex. Please remember that you have hundreds of internal stitches and the main reasons for abstaining during the healing period are to protect you from introducing bacteria that could cause serious infection, and tearing of stitches. All of those internal stitches need to heal! I wonder how many stitches we have?? One thing my doc said that helped me understand some of my discomfort: there's 2 internal incision about the same as the external, one above and one below the external. That seemed to give me some perspective.

So, following doc's orders seems to promote healing for any surgery/illness. Be grateful that you feel like "fooling around," even before the 6 weeks or however long it takes.

There seems to be something really libido enhancing about waiting. I never asked about the external part. Crazy, but I was afraid that an orgasm might get those internal parts moving too much. A couple of times my DH touched me some above the waist and my internal stirrings were so strong that I asked my doc about it. It sort of hurt, internally. She just grinned and said that it was OK.

The first three times for sex, I cried and cried. I just boo-hooed. Everything worked! and to be cancer-free.

Today is my 22nd anniversary. It's wonderful to celebrate, cancer-free.
