Getting Playful After Surgery

you just have to do what feels right to you (external) and don't rush it. Agree with lovetowalk, didn't feel much like 'other things' but did help DH out in his seeming distress. During that, actually surprised myself and had the big O. Wasn't bad at all, didn't feel much different to me. When doc released me at 6 weeks I said NO I'M NOT READY, I NEED A NOTE FROM YOU TO TAKE HOME SAYING I NEED ANOTHER MONTH. She just laughed and said she couldn't write me a note. After telling DH about it, he was sweet and said, okay let's wait another week. After that, just took it slow and it was nice. Asked him how it felt and he said weird thing is the thinks the tumors were massaging the tip of his penis (I know TMI) and he kind of missed that...MEN!!! After the 10th week, decided to get a little more creative and not so slow and ended up with a BAD UTI. So, continue to take it slow and get up and pee immediately afterward and flush with plenty of water...

My doctor said wait 7 weeks. I am now 6 weeks 2 days. I am ready. I have had 1 orgasm from external playing. It was great! I am anxiously awaiting being able to go all the way.

Getting Playful After Surgery

I was feeling playful after about two weeks. Keeping in mind the six week rule, I lit a candle and "played" with my husband. He loved the undivided attention although he felt bad that he couldn't return the favor. I am so thankful for all the help he's given me around the house these past few weeks, it's the least I can do, making him the center of my attention. What guy wouldn't love that?

I'll admit I reached an "O" on my own while he was at work and while it felt good when it was happening, my tummy and lower region was quite sore the rest of the day. Haven't tried since...

Getting Playful After Surgery

My doc gave me the green-light for oral sex after 3 weeks - but said only after my guy rinsed with Listerine first to kill germs.

Of course, he also OK'd me to have sex 4-6 weeks post-hysto, and I tore my vaginal cuff the first time having post-op sex at the 7 week mark. Not a good thing.

Putting sex on hold was the most difficult part for me post-hysto. (I had recently gotten divorced and had FINALLY started dating someone again when I had to have surgery. Drat!) I had my first O by myself after about 3 weeks - and felt crampy the next couple of days. (But I was so happy I still "worked!")

Even after tearing my vaginal cuff and having to wait another 6 weeks - you think I would have learned. I didn't. (**** - I thought my hormones would have calmed down by now!) I tore my vaginal cuff again - 8 weeks after it was repaired.

So listen to your doc - but also listen to your body. I knew my body wasn't ready - only "certain" parts of my body were. (they weren't the smart parts obviously - lol) And when you do.. take it very slow and easy. You'll know if it feels right or not. And if it doesn't... wait. It will again.

And whoever it was that said infection is a big reason docs make us wait, you are sooooo right!!!! My vaginal cuff tears were bad - but it was the ensuing infections that nearly killed me.

Getting Playful After Surgery

I had a full hysterectomy, but I kept my ovaries, which was done on November 30, 2007. I believe that my fiance is feeling sexually deprived, but I'm just not interested in being intimate with him. I know you can't have sex, until the doctor says the ok. So what would be your advice on this matter, it seems that you may have the same concern that I have.

Getting Playful After Surgery

The one time my DH and I "got playful", I was quite uncomfortable afterwards, from all the increased circulation. The swelling of tissues that is normally part of it all made me hurt. I think I'd just rather leave it all alone until more healing is done.

iloveMT - I felt the same way a few weeks ago. I just felt weird inside, though my DH didn't even touch me below the waist. Since getting the all clear, relations have been great! It was worth the wait.

My DH asked me today what I thought was causing me to be so frisky. Gee, I really don't know, but my libido is greater than it's been in years. Part of it is being so grateful to be cancer-free. I think some of it is that my cervix that had been bulging due to prolapsed uterus is no longer in the way. My irratic, long bleeding is no longer a factor. Some of it is just being so happy that all the parts work. I bought some KY jelly, as suggested by my doc, but it hasn't even come out of the drawer. It's weird, but my DH suggested that we just enjoy the increased desire. We are both happy, as we celebrated our 22nd anniversary on the 28th.
