6 months and feeling good

yesterday was my 6 month aniiversary of my sub -total abdo- hysto. i only remembered it because i got an e- mail from hyster sisters telling me. the fact that i forgot is truly wonderful. it will happen to you all also. i am back to exercising my 5 or 6 days at the gym. i can finally lift the weights that i could not. i can dance, and run. ( not that i run). i still have a numb area around my incison, but no pain. my weight is back to what is was before. my tummy is pretty flat. sex is back to normal, and i feel it as i did before. i bought white pants for the first time in years, ( you understand), i feel quite lucky to feel so good. i do have my ovaries and cervix, and althought i am 52 years old, i was still getting my period until the hysto, i am in menopause still. i get hot and sweaty, and lots of the other symptoms,, but i expect that. time heals alot. thank you all for helping me,

6 months and feeling good

Hi June! Its Pace here. Congrats on your 6 month anniversary!! I just passed 4 months and feel pretty good. I have only just started back to exercising, just ran/ walked the other day for an hour, and starting weights, lightly, today. I read that your belly is pretty flat, was it before your operation? The reason i ask is, i have a "fat pouch" just below my belly button, and wonder if I will ever lose it, or if its there to stay. I am going to watch what i eat and exercise, but I get discouraged when i feel so good and look down at that! It almost makes me cry to think i could lose weight elsewhere but have that for the rest of time. Is that something that is part of this type of operation? Do you know? Thanks! Glad to hear that you are feeling so great! I am too !

6 months and feeling good

hi pace, i did have abit of a bulge just under my belly button before, and i still have one, but i think it might actually be a tiny bit smaller. my uterus was ssooo big before. my dr. told me not to expect my tummy to go flat, but i am quite happy with it. take care.

I also had surgery in June.

Happy six month anniversary!

I feel fantastic too. My problem was with heavy bleeding and pain. My life has significantly improved. No more dizzy spells or near fainting from bleeding so much, no more cramps, no more back pain... I'm sooo much happier. The best part is being able to carry a small purse! I could never go anywhere without tampons AND pads. This is just wonderful, and the best thing I ever did for myself. I wish I would have had it done much sooner!

I am happy to read that you are doing so well! I truly look forward to your level of normality(-: December 6th was my 6 months; however, I have no energy and am gaining weight even though I have cut meals in half (not starving myself) and walking daily. I have been on Cenestin since the day of my surgery, I am looking into bioidentical hormones as soon as my doc returns from holiday break.

Merry Christmas and a blessed New Year!

As you can read below (Chocolate 33) and on an earlier post, I am searching for others who are experiencing our fatigue as well as recovered from this surgery with more vitality. What was the deciding factor of no HRT?

6 months and feeling good

Doctor said he wouldn't give them to me for 6 months. He said many woman don't need them so he waits 6 months. I didn't have a choice. I am suffering severe fatigue without HRT (no ovaries).
