Progress report Day 29

Hello everyone,

Hooray! This fourth week has been marked by a lot of progress. I am able to wear sweaters and some of my loose fitting pants. No jeans yet and no heels either! I was able to shave my legs all by myself! I feel like a big girl! During the weekend, DH, the kids, and I went out for short outings. On Saturday, DH took me to the beauty salon and I enjoyed being pampered by the stylist. The drive felt rough on my abdomen, but the pillows I took with me helped. On Sunday, we went to Best Buy and after the forty minutes journey --twenty in the car and twenty walking in store-- I came home exhausted. We wanted to go to the movies, but I just couldn't. When we got home, I went straight to the couch.

On Monday, I went to see the hematologist who has been treating me for anemia. My blood count was a little low, but he said that was expected after the surgery. He didn't prescribe iron yet. My blood pressure was lower than usual and he said not to worry about it because it could be the result of the pain medication. I have taken an Ibuprofen pill before I went to see him, so maybe that caused it. I have to go back in another four weeks.

I am now eating larger portions of food. My BMs are more regular, sometimes they are painful, but I have not been constipated. I am only seeing a light discharge, so I could say that I am not spotting anymore. I am almost off the Hydrocodone and I can go two days without taking it. Yesterday, I drove for the first time to pick up my son at school. It felt weird and uncomfortable, but it was good to be behind the wheel again. It was a major milestone for me. Last night, I felt my ovaries again! I guess I am ovulating and both of my ovaries let me know they are working because I had cramps!

I don’t have to hold my stomach with a pillow every time I walk, but only to cough and laugh :-) I am walking more straight although not as fast as I used to. My little boy told me the other day that he missed seeing me walking as fast as the little bird of the Surf-Up movie. I told him that if I take it easier during my Medical Leave, I will be walking as fast as I did before surgery.

Thank you for being there. I wish all of you a good recovery. Take care of yourselves!

Wow, I see that I missed many of your messages and updates. For some reason I am not getting alerts about the new posting on the forum.

Well, I am glad to hear that many of you are doing well and that the ones who had set backs are hanging in there and following the doctor's instructions. My prayers are with you. I will try to read the messages more often.

Well, now I am leaving on my second adventure behind the wheel. I have to pick up my son at school.

Don't over do it!

Thanks rjstanto, that is good to hear about your discharge. What is the time frame everyone has been given to exercise & to have sex again? Are you feeling rather anxious about the first time?

Hi LucyO7,

My MD told me to wait until he releases me before I return to my exercise routine. I would suggest to talk to your Dr so he or she can tell you when you should start.

Regarding sex, the standard is to wait until after your six-weeks post op, until your MD gives you the green light. I guess after your doctors says it is ok, it will depend on how you feel.

I am very anxious because, for me, the TAH recovery has been completely different from the C-Section recovery and I want to make sure that everything is working properly w/o the uterus. The good news is that I already started to feel the urge :-)

Hooray! After four weeks of doing nothing except going the the doctor's office for my wound cleaning and check ups he (the doc) says that I have healed very fast, even since last week. He lifted my lifting restriction to 15-20 pounds and is allowing me to do more around the house. He even released me to work light duty for four hours per day! I don't have to see him for two weeks! He reminded me to use reason when doing household and work tasks.

cjnbkl8b3 you asked: Can anyone answer for me if they have had a hematoma what they did for it and do you still have any bleeding. I started bleeding through my incision on 1/4/08 due to a hematoma. I bled for a couple weeks and now I am draining a clearish-yellowish-red fluid. If you have any specific questions about my care or experience PM or look up some of my other posts.

>Someone said they were have breast tenderness or the urge to nurse that is so weird cause I have to,

Hi Christine,

It was me! I asked Dr. about it and he said that it had to do with the hormone imbalance after surgery. I asked a few friends who had the TAH and a couple, including my mother-in-law, had the same symptons; they wanted to nurse and their breast were sore. My urge to nurse stopped a couple of weeks ago. It was a weird feeling indeed.

Keep us posted on the results of your ct scan.

Have a bless day!

Hello All fellow Sisters
I got my result back today from ct scan. I have a hematoma about the size of a tennis ball and hernia. Going to try and let it pass on its, for 2 more weeks then have another ct to check progress. If no shrinking then we have to take it out. But I am getting around alot better. just alittle tired but feeling better. Thanks alot for alot the chat, I told my Doc about the site today he said " oh lord I would hate to see that". I said dont worry I didnt talk bad about you just enjoy relating to women who have been through the same no doc bashing going on he just laughed at me. Again thanks for all the thoughts and prayers
