Hi ladies! I just finished reading all of your posts for the last week (I was out of town). I think it is important remember we are all at such different stages in our healing. I think it is very wise of us to pay attention to our own bodies and not try and compare too much with others on our site. We all heal at different rates, so lets pay attention to what our own bodies are telling us! Lovely Bubbly, I think it is so smart for you to pay for a cleaning lady! I didn't even think of that! You are a positive and "lovely" lady and I am glad you have the support of your family!

I live by myself and although I had my mother and 23 year old DS stay with me for the first two weeks I have been on my own since then. Friends came by to visit pretty often, but the isolation was terrible. It was so boring. I was able to cook and do light cleaning for myself. I just didn't push myself and didn't care what my house looked like. After a short setback due to an infection, I healed up very well. I don't even remember sometimes that I had major abdominal surgery. These last few days I don't have any pain anymore, except in my lower back sometimes.

Last Tuesday I drove eight miles from Southern California to the San Francisco area to visit my DS at college. I was amazed at how well I felt. I spent everyday up there walking all around town, taking the subway to SF, and eating at great restaurants. I didn't even need to rest during the day! I was so happy to be back to almost normal again. I might have pushed myself a little, but I tried to listen to my body, and felt great! Yesterday I went to the gym for the first time since my surgery and spent 15 minutes on the elliptical machine, then took a one hour bodyworks class. It was so much fun, and I just did the whole class with 2 pound weights (everyone else had 5 or 10 pound weights), so I didn't push myself. I didn't do the deep lunges or the ab work. It felt great, and I was very proud of myself. I still have swelly belly too, and long to get back into shape.

I go back to work teaching high school English tomorrow. I am excited to see my friends and students. I see my doctor on Friday. I am not looking forward to the exam. As of tomorrow, its been six weeks since my TAH. I am so happy it is over and done with. What a major ordeal we have all been though!

Hi everyone yesterday I had my visit to my surgeon (it will be 6 weeks this friday), great news he has given me the ok to get back to normal living, with no restrictions. I didn't think I would ever say that I was looking forward to going back to the gym! So I hope everyone else is getting to that point as well. Take care & look after yourselves.

Sounds like everyone is doing really well. Back to work, the gym, house work, and traveling. I go back to work Monday, teaching 4th grade. I know it's going to be rough, but I think I'm ready!! I'm ready for normal.

Christine I hope you get good news tomorrow. RJ How did your first day back go? Good luck at the Dr on Friday.

I have a big weekend planned with my girlfriends. We are meeting at a local coffee house for breakfast. Then we're off to a cabin in the woods for the rest of the day and night, and a wine tasting event on Sunday afternoon. I can't wait!! Adult conversation and out of the house!! Woohoo!

Hi Everybody!!
I'm at 5.5 wks. post op and went back to work on 1/28. I have been exhausted by the time I get home...thank goodness for the crock pot!!! It has become my new best friend!!! I saw my urogyn. on Tue. and he said everything looked GREAT!! YAHOO!!! I see my gyno. next Wed for my 6wk. Things seem to be going well.
I did have a scare today though, I work at an elementary school and after school but before my day was done, my 10yr. came screaming into the office with his face covered in blood. Without thinking, I jumped up and ran to get him into the Healthroom....then scooted him out the door and into my principal's Tahoo (the climb into it nearly killed me) for the crazy ride over to the hospital. 3.5 hrs. later sitting on the hard chair and 6 stitches in the forehead...headed through the nearest drive through for some supper. I'm home now and ready to go to bed. I just hope I don't ache tomorrow.

Dear Sisters,

Thank you all for the encouraging and kind words. I am so happy to see how many of you are progressing so well! You go girls! For those of us still in pain: It will get better!

This is a BIG week for many of us because we have our six weeks post op appointments! I have mine this morning at 9:25 a.m.

Last weekend, I tried to take advantage of my mother-in-law being here and I overdid it. On Friday, we went on many errands and DH and I went on a date that same night . Needless to say that on Saturday I woke up in pain and exhausted; my right side felt like lead. . On Sunday, I went to church for the first time after surgery and one of my friends and a co-worker thought that I looked too thin and too tired. She asked me if I have lost about 30 pounds! :-) I told her that I only lost 5 lbs. I must have looked like a ghost.

I finally acknowledged work e-mails and I replied to all of them. I think everybody is ready for me to get back to work. I am not!

Well, I have to go get ready for the big appointment. I'll talk to you later and catch up with your messages.

Keep the good healing!

Dear Sisters,

I just got back from my 6 weeks post op and I am not out of the woods yet.

My incision has not healed completely. It is healing nicely, but slowly. The doctor could see a few stitches still inside. My bladder was swollen, but thankfully I don’t have an infection. Dr didn’t release me to go back to work. I have to stay home for two more weeks. He sent me with a couple of restrictions: no lifting more than 5 pounds, no walking or exercising

MD answered patiently all my questions. He has been my ob-gyn for ten years now and I love him because besides being an excellent physician he is also very caring.

I guess I just have to accept the fact that I need to be a princess for 16 more days and avoid rushing things so I can heal completely well.

Keep the good work and take care!

Lovey ~ I'm so sorry you didn't get a green light for everything. You can do it another 2 weeks. I know it's hard, but you can do it. How about Blockbuster Online?? Catch up on all the movies you want to watch?

Take care We're here to support you.

Thank you Alisa and Christine for the encouragement! Last night, I cried all night because I couldn't believe that I cannot even lift more than 5 pounds. That restriction really got me. I feel much better today. Nothing like a good cry to bring relief to our frustrations.

Yes, cable and Blockbuster Online have been my best friends. I have watched every marathon of Law & Order and followed every news headline from beginning to end and ordered all the movies I have been wanting to watch. I think I will try to read more this next two weeks, file old papers and do some scrapbooking.

Congrats Christine on the good report ! Take it easy at work though!

I'll check with all of you later!
