Yesterday morning I vacuumed my living room and yesterday evening I swept and mopped my kitchen. Today I finally was able to take down my Christmas tree and decorations. I feel accomplished, but sore; although it is a good sore. Yeah! Tomorrow it is off to work for my first full day...

Congratulations Lady Bug!

I am sore from doing too much this weekend but it's not so bad. As soon as everyone is off to school tomorrow, I can rest again. Ended up having to take my daughter to the er today. Dr said to bring her because she couldn't/wouldn't pee for 24 hours. All tests came back negative and a nurse there bribed her with beanie babies and she finally went! She has been fine since we brough ther home so hopefully that was the end of that problem. I was very worried. The dr was saying he doesn't usually see retention like that except in men with prostate problems, so of course I was thinking of what awful things it could be.

Back to work tomorrow night. It's been ok. i did 2 12 hour shifts last week and survived just fine.

Good night to all!

had my surgery in december-my update

this is my first post since my tah with A/P repair and bladder sling-but they left my ovaries. I went in on dec 20th and was in surgery for 4+ hrs. I had 3 drs attending. 2 ob/gyn's and one urologist. Apparently I came close to quitting breathing quite a few times according to the anesthesiologist due to my severe sleep apnea. I had the catheter in for over a week. That had to be the most depressing part, especially since I ended up in the hospital emergency room on Christmas morning because of pain from the catheter. I have been healing fine physically, but emotionally I am having issues. I never wanted the hysterectomy. I wanted more children, but after 8+ miscarriages and 4 d&c's and various tests, procedures, etc, my dr said my body just couldn't take it anymore. I don't notice much difference from before the surgery, except I no longer need to wear depends every day and I don't feel my cervix moving up and down in my vagina when I cough. I have felt inside there and it feels horrible. I am terrified of having sex again. What if I gross out my dh? I am coming up on my 8 wk checkup this Friday. I went back to work part-time at about 4 weeks, because I didn't know if I was going to get help with vacation time so I wouldn't be on unpaid time. Also, no one else at work does my job, so stuff is just piling up and other people there have had hysterectomies and been back at work within 3-4 weeks (tvh-not tah mind you) and it was expected of me. I have stuck to my guns and only been in part time though, even though it was suggested I could be back full time. I haven't posted here, but have been reading some of the other posts because I just didn't feel up to it. Not sure if I had swelly belly or not. I have noticed I seem to still get premenstrual symptoms, but not as severely as I used to-is this normal? I do seem to have more acne though, but not the sharp pulling pains I had, which I had thought was caused by ovulation-now I am not so sure. I am sorry this is so negative sounding. Like I said, my issues aren't physical at all, after the catheter was removed, my healing progressed normally, my issues are emotional and coming to grips with the changes that have gone on inside and the knowledge that I had no control over any of this.

I had my 6 week post op check up last Friday. The doc said everything looks good and gave me the green light to resume intercourse. I sure if the doc said it is ok, then it is ok but I am scared to do it. I think I am afraid it will hurt or I will tear something. I need some advice, please.

I had my 6 wk check up on thursday and intercourse on saturday. It was fine. Dr said to start slow. I didn't bleed at all and it actually felt the same, if not better than before.
Give it a try, just take it easy.

Oh I want so much to be one of you !!

Hi Sisters,

First off I am so happy to hear all of you are doing so well, it has been such a comfort through this time to know that someone else is dealing with the same things I am feeling too. I am glad we are all coming to a milemark in this journey of ours, but I am not about to give up my title of Princess just yet !! Now to my latest update....

Friday was my six week mark and I was looking foward to being at the end of this road, but my doctor called on Thursday and said, " I'm going to be out of the office all day and I need to reschedule your appointment."

WHAT !!! Hummm ok, so I agreed ( like I had a choice ) and then his receptionist said the first he could see me would be the following Friday morning. So now I'm going into my 7th week of post op and I'm going stir crazy. He told me until he saw me everything had to remain status quo, so I called the elementary school where I do latchkey and explained it was going to be another week before I could return. I am happy to have the extra week of down time to rest as my days are still pretty busy and my sleeping pattern is still out of whack. Yet I still want to get back to a normal lifestyle.

Not to mention my 17th wedding anniversary is coming up on Feb. 16th so I would like to enjoy some time away from home with my hubby.

So on Friday I am going into the doctors with all my gusty and telling him, " I wanna have sex again." LOL !! Ok maybe I'll just go in and be a good girl !!

I am again so thankful for all the ladies here and the support you have given me. I find myself feeling so connected to you all instead of alone and scared. You have given me shoulders to cry on, and tears of laughter when I didn't think I could find anything funny in any of this. I'm glad we are all on our way to healthier lives and a sisterhood we will always be.

Thank you, and
Sable

I went to my 6 week check up last Monday. This Wednesday I will be 7 weeks post op. The doctor pretty much lifted me of all restrictions. Just said to take things slow and gradually return to my normal activities. Told me not to do anything that I didn't feel like doing. He said that I am 80% healed and that there are some stitches that haven't dissolved yet. I'm still somewhat sore. I still wear my tummy binder that the doctor gave me. I tried to take it off today and kept it off all day but put it back on the evening because I feel better with it still. I'm not doing any major lifting other than my 2 yr old. Still hurts to lift or move anything heavy. I haven't had sex either. May try that on Valentines Day,hehehe! I'm kinda scared about the stitches being there still and the soreness. I'm slowly getting back to normal though. Still get tired easy and of course this past week everyone in my house got sick and they had to pass it on to me.

Dear sisters,

I am happy to hear such good reports: vacuuming, intercourse, etc.

DD was all better by Sunday, so I was glad to kicked her out of my precious couch. I still hold the princess crown for 12 more days.

I am praying and thinking of those of you still experiencing post op pain and anxiety about going back to your normal lives.

It is so good to have you all here!

If Dr gave you the greenlight go for it tweetybird_76, just be cautious and don't rush things. Practice makes perfect , so keep trying until you are not afraid anymore. *partysign I will follow my own advise when my times come. Although at this rate, my time may be here later rather than sooner. :-))

I hope everyone in your family is getting better.
