Remember that you are only 11 days post op and I think expecting 100% recovery by now is alot.

Best Wishes

Thanks, I did call my dr. and he told me to get off my feet asap..I have my feet elevated and have been resting. I just thought after 11 days I would be 100% better.........

How many of you are off the pain meds ??

HI Ladies,

Just a quick question, I had my TAH on December 28th and I am now one week out from the day I came home from the hospital. Is anyone else out there still on pain meds, or have you weened off of them completely ? I have gone back to just one percocet every six hours, and Motrin every eight, but my doctor and husband don't want me pushing it and have said to stay with the pain plan until further notice. However I am now on my second bottle of pain meds.

I do still feel stiff, and I am swollen of course with bruising and tenderness, but I'm not sure if it is something I could live through. So I'm just curious, I don't want to be heroic but I also don't want to just stayed doped up if I don't need to be.

BTW my baby sister is coming into town tomorrow to try and sit with me, however she is under some impression this is a girls week and we are gonna get some shopping and girl things done like massages...How do I break her heart that sitting with me most of the time means just that SITTING...

Thanks for the help,
Sable

I still have been taking Motrin 800 mg about once or twice a day.. Tonight I had to take the percocet since I had such bad cramping. I think your ok...You have to stay on top of the pain. How many pills did your Dr. give you in the first bottle. Mine gave me 50 and I still a bunch left.........and sixty Motrin................

I cannot imagine having this surgery when I was 16! Take care of yourself and make sure you take care of yourself emotionally too.

I think it's asking too much to except yourself to be 100%. I haven't even been released to drive yet.

I didn't have any bleeding except when I was in the hospital and even then it was very minimal. I've started spotting over the past couple days.

Hope all the sisters are doing better!

I had a TVH, and I'm doing REALLY well, but I am sure NOT 100%. I feel really good (at home without chores, lifting, or bending) but going out to a restaurant wiped me out.

I start back to classes tomorrow (only 3 hours, 3 days a week), but DH will drive me (luckily he works evenings). We'll have to see if I can keep up my readings with all the extra sleep I'm going to want when I get home!

Feeling Fat

It has been 10 days now since my LSH. I am still tired and a little sore. Just wondering if anyone else out there feels huge. I am still very swollen but I still weigh the same. But I can't seem to fit into any of my clothes. Hope this is normal.
Hope everyone had a blessed new year. Have a wonderful day.

stery strips, uncomfy & blahs

Hello!

Happy New Year and a speady recovery to all!

I had my TAH on Dec 26th. Came home on the 29th due to an overnight high fever.

It looks like other than my fibroid, the doctor encounter that I had adenomiosys and from the scar tissue my uterus was stuck to my abdominal wall ( that explains the pain that no one seems to diagnose (a lady Gyne told me "well maybe you will have to learn to live with it" without doing any tests or anything)) and also my bladder and ovary was stuck to my rectum. Thus I ended having a 2 1/2 hrs surgery.

questions:

do i really need the stery strips? i had such a relief when the staples came off just to have the strips on . My Dr reopened my C/sec incision site (2 c/secs) and I never had stery strips before, but also, I never had an alergic reacction to the dressing tape either.

Is anyone having some bledding after peeing? just spotting. I am getting a little bit worried.

Also I am still taking pain meds (motrin or advil) at least 3 times during the day.

I feel kind of achy and blah. My days are spent watching tv, between the bed (upstairs) and the recliner (downstairs) and walking around the house.

Any advice?

Thanks,

Sweet Lily

I know what you mean about these strips, not sure why (and I forgot to ask). Felt great to have those staples out. Hopefully in a couple of days they will be falling off with alittle help from myself.
I'm having no spotting or bleeding, but I wouldn't hesitate to call Dr. if your worried.
I feel pretty good, which now is the hard part. Not doing anything while feeling good.
No pain meds since I came home from hosp.
Hopefully some more helpful advice will come in.
Take care and take it easy.

I think were gonna make it. Now10 days post op

Hi, eveyone

Currently at 10 days post op LAVH, Still really sore, things inside are still moving with me when I get out of bed, sit etc... Down to Advil during the day and Perocet at night.

Tissymoe- I am still swollen in the belly area also. Haven't lost much weight either. I see my dtr on Thursday for 2 week post op. Can anyone tell me what happens at the post op appt. Kinda worried about that.

No bleeding since day 3 post op.

It could be worse, and then I guess it could be better. One day at a time. That is my motto.

Is anyone going back to work before 6 weeks? I just feel so tired everyday. Can't wait to have the energy back.

I had steri-strips from my surgery 12/27. The original ones fell off and I have been having weeping since. I'd rather have kept the steri-strips on longer instead of dealing with the weeping. My RN said that it may take weeks for the incisions to heal.
