sore pelvic bones/hips

Hi Ladies,
I had a complete hysterectomy Nov. 27th. Just wondering if anyone has had sore pelvic or hip bones? It does not hurt to walk just a achy feeling in the pelvic bone, hip area. Any ideas???

I have read where if your hormone levels are way out of whack -- that can effect the joints and give a fatuiged feeling.

you might want to contact your GP just to see what is going on.

The position during surgery can create some aches and pains involving the hip area. Also, the change of activity, or lack thereof, can also affect the various joints in our bodies.

Have you talked to your doctor's office about how you are feeling and asked for suggestions? You may need pain medications, vitamins, supplements, etc. Also, be sure to drink plenty of water, walk as you can, and try not to stay in the same position for extended periods of time.

Best wishes to you as you continue to heal and recover! S

sore pelvic bones/hips

I had TAH/BSO and am still only able to sleep on my sides and my hips have been hurting from me sleeping on them so much. It has been that way since week 1. I was at the chiropracter (sp) yesterday and had a lot of adjustments in my hips and pelvic because of over use.

Hi Sam

In addition to the hormones potentially being out of balance, when your surgeon operated (if it was an abdominal surgery), clamps were used to hold your incision open. They clamp right onto your hips. My doctor explained that for a while your nerves are numb from the surgery, but when they start to wake up they realize they've been bruised. I had the pelvic and hip discomfort for a while. It's hard to remember exactly how long at this point, but I'm thinking it was about 6-8 weeks. It eventually it faded and went away completely. Hopefully this won't last too long for you and whatever is causing it will resolve itself soon. Good luck!

Add me to the list of painful hip experiences! I know they do a lot of digging around and moving stuff, so I attributed it to that. I'm about six weeks out now and it's definitely fading away.

Thank you girls for all your comments. They all make sense and make me feel better. I was feeling great and now yesterday and today I feel like staying in bed. The sore pelvic/hips and I have a little opening in my incision that was draining so I went to the doctor and he did a culture and told me to keep it dry. And I feel tired. Glad to know that things will look up again...just feeling frustrated right now.
