Abdomen skin is painful ??!!??

Hi! I have been lurking for a month now! This sight has been SO much help! I had a TAH/BSO on 12/14. I was so full of scar tissue that my Doc told my husband that neither he nor the doc that assisted had ever seen anything like it! He also told mt 14 y/o DS that he was a miracle because I should not have been able to get pregnant!! My surgery took 3-1/2 hours... My incision is horizontal. I have Vivelle Dot 1.0 as my HRT. At this point I am only taking an occasional Darvocet for pain (before bed). Sorry for all the info!

Now my question - I am healing well, but my tummy skin is SO sore that i could not sleep last night. Today I am going "commando" with silk pants!

HELP!! It is making me crazy!!!

Abdomen skin is painful ??!!??

I had my TAHBSO on the 21st and yesterday I figured out that the skin was bothering me most of all. So I did the commando commando thing and went to bed ( I am divorced and my room is downstairs and my teens are upstairs so I really have my privace so it was safe). I was quite comfortable that way, althought during the day had to do what you are doing, but I have cotton bottoms. I haven't started any HRT yet since my LSH became a TAH due to stage 4 endometriosis so I really need to find out more about that and HRT. Hang in there, each day gets us one day closer to back to normal, or maybe even better than where we started..... - Suzyq

Abdomen skin is painful ??!!??

I had my tah on July 30th, my skin sometimes still bothers me. Sometimes I cant wear jeans because of the zipper. My scare is still sensitive and some of the skin on my stomach is still numb. I guess it takes time for all the nerves to heal. It is major surgery. Hang in there!

Abdomen skin is painful ??!!??

Thank you stewart20fan! I have had the same sensitivity at 3 months post op and was thinking I wasn't "normal". My jeans still occasionally bother me and some days it's just tender there.

I still have lots of numbness.

Titansbaseball-you're doing the right thing...go commando - it will get better. Maybe try an OTC pain reliever to help.

Thanks for the replies! I feel better just knowing that it's "normal"!! I, too, think that it is just the severed nerves healing...

Abdomen skin is painful ??!!??

Hi ya! I am coming up on 6 wks post-op and have the sensitive skin on my abdomen too. It feels like needles prickling me at times. Usually after or during when I am wearing my jeans. Its a bummer! I can't imagine it still being an issue at 3 mos...but as you said, it was MAJOR surgery!

Abdomen skin is painful ??!!??

Like I stated, it's only occasionally. It's thankfully not every day or every week, it just creeps up on me. Doesn't seem to have a pattern or even that I have over done things.

I certainly don't want to scare anyone or have ladies thinking it's each and everyday.

Maybe it's my body just reminding me I had major surgery.

I'm 3 1/2 weeks out and my belly skin is extremely sensitive, too. My incision doesn't hurt, the skin right above it is numb, the pain is right below my belly button all the way across. I'm also glad to know that others are experiencing the same thing!

Since I don't have hardly any discharge anymore, I sometimes sleep w/o bottoms and only a nightgown or T-shirt since the skin is so sensitive.

Abdomen skin is painful ??!!??

Oh heck - I haven't worn underwear since my surgery in October. Between the swelling and the weird skin sensations - why bother? I'm just happy those velour sweatsuits have made a fashion comeback!
