excrutiatingg pain in the tailbone following hysterectomy

has anyone had this type of pain after their hysterectomy. Mine started two weeks after the surgery. Has anyone had a nerve block? Has anyone found something that works? Has anyone received a treatment that made the pain worse? Please answer. Desperate.

I am sorry you are hurting so bad. What has the doctor said about this? I really don't know the answer, but I wanted to move this post to the top so others will see it. Prayers for your quick relief.

This happened to me immediately after surgery. My doctor told me that it's caused by pulling a muscle in the back due to the position that you're in during the surgery. It usually only occurs in women who have had multiple surgeries with the hysterectomy, however I had a basic vaginal hysterectomy and it happened to me.

I would love to tell you that it's a really quick recovery, but it will take a while. Keep lots of Advil on hand.

I would suggest that if it gets too extreme or constant (I could barely walk at times) that you give your dr. a call.

I'd check with your doctor too. I'm 6wks post op and still taking 800mg x 2 daily for aches and pains. My tailbone has been a menace to me and I have a hard time sitting for long periods of time. Thankfully water keeps me going to the bathroom so that my butt doesn't fall asleep! I know that with my surgery they did do some repair work around my rectum (internally) and so it will be sore for some time. I even have occasional BMs that hurt.

I had this for about 2 weeks it just felt like part of my tailbone was asleep and it was more a weird feeling than pain. I asked my doc about it and he said that it was from the position during my surgery.

I've read about the position they have you in for a TVH and it's no wonder I hurt there.

Hi Nina,
My pain was only about a 2 at the worst, I would really call your doctor if you are still having this pain and it's bad.
