Hot Flushes and palpitations, muscle aches! 6 months post op!!

i had my uterus, cervix's and ovaries removed the end of june due to stage one endrometrial CAncer , i am so blessed they got it all and i do not need radiation or cemo.
I ended up with a severe post -op infection my incision reopened, which took from June to Sept to heal over ! i have had staph infection return 4 times and been on about 12 course's of antibiotics.
about 2months after surgery i was crying over every thing and then that settled down and now i am having Hot flushes from 2am in the morning about 4 times. Then i wake up with aching muscles have trouble getting up the stairs or walking in stores. I had terrible panic in pre menopause and it has been under control for about 4 years and now i am seeming to have palpitations alot again.
I was 58 and still having a period before my surgery.
My doctor tried to say i should not have problems with my ovaries being removed as i was so much older!
I would love to hear what others have to say about post op
problems with crying , hot flushes and palpitations??????
and what did you find helped and how long it took to go away.
love to hear from anyone !
thankyou

help is on the way

Sorry about your complicated post op period. Before I even left the hospital, I had a bed soaker of hot flashes. They gave me depo provera, I had two small ones one on each night to follow, none last night, and thery tell me no more to come.

I had a ttl hysterectomy for uterine ca and discovered ovarian ca. They removal they tell me is the cure for both. I sure hope so.

Best wishes to you

Hot Flushes and palpitations, muscle aches! 6 months post op!!

nanapj, if there is one thing I have learned this entire time is DOCTORS don't know what to do when we come to them for these things... I had to fight for years to get them to help me with my anxiety, leg swelling and palpations and my aches and pains, so on and so on, they kept telling me it was in my head and put me on antidepressants after 3 years I told them ENOUGH and they finally sent me to see an OB and she changed my life with HRT and found my inners had all prolapsed! .. I feel even at your age, you may need some type of HRT.. do some research, even if you can afford it, (I'm saving up for one) go to a compound pharmacy and they test you and make up hormones specially for you.. do a search on the hyster site about this and HRT in general you will learn so much!!! GOOD LUCK!

Hot Flushes and palpitations, muscle aches! 6 months post op!!

Hi nanapj
Welcome to Hystersisters! I'm sorry you're experiencing so many unpleasant reactions to having your ovaries removed. My dr said and wanted to do the same thing and I told him no. The truth is our ovaries continue to give us small amounts of hormones even after menopause, which it doesn't sound like you were in yet.

You'll need to talk to your dr about the safety of using hormones after your cancer. Some drs feel ok about it and others say no. If you could use some kind of hrt it would provide relief for these symptoms. I'm 54, kept my ovaries and I'm now using a low dose bioidentical hormone replacement to help me deal with hot flashes and brain fog as I'm working my way into menopause.

I agree with the suggestions to begin reading and researching out your options. Decide what you feel comfortable with and also ask your dr of course. I feel good using the bioidentical Vivelle Dot. Quality of life is important to me and there are a lot of things to consider, like the health of your bones too. Do some reading and see what you think. The Hormone Article List is a good place to start to find some information that may help you make a good decision.

I wish you well with this. Keep us posted on your progress.

Hot Flushes and palpitations, muscle aches! 6 months post op!!

I was glad to read this post this morning. I have experienced bad panic attacks pre-op and now they are back. I had my TAH/BSO in August, 2007. I am also having muscle aches and palpitations. I was so worried I thought I was having a heart attack! (No heart or blood pressure problems). I am on the Viville Dot at this time. Anyone know what causes these two symptoms?
