Partial hysterectomy done by laparoscopy

I posted way back when, probably a year or so now.

I'm 30, and just had a partial hysterectomy done by laparoscopy on December 11th. I had adneomyosis and had done a lot of other therapies to try to manage the bleeding and pain. We did shots, hormone replacement therapy, etc. The shots worked for around 8 months, then the bleeding and pain returned. Estrogen worked for the bleeding, but as soon as I would stop the 6.25 mg of Premarin a day the bleeding would return and it didn't do anything for the pain. So, the hysterectomy was decided upon.

Anyway. It's been three weeks today, and I'm SO TIRED. I guess I expected to go in, have the laparoscopy done, recover in a few days, and all be back to normal. But I'm much, much more tired that I ever thought I would be. And although they left my ovaries, I'm having hot flashes (and cold ones) and tears at the drop of a hat.

I just wanted to hear of others that's had this done, and if what I'm experiencing is leaning toward normal.

So sorry you are feeling this way. It is all completely normal. We all have emotional ups and downs after this traumatic surgery. As far as the hormones, anything is possible. I have heard of ovaries being in shock after surgery, but they took mine so I am not really much help there. Good luck. Please keep us updated with your recovery.

I had LSH on Dec. 4 and I know exactly how you feel! I still get exhausted if I over do it. The doctor released me to do normal activities, but I'm still taking it slowly. If I over do it, I definitely feel some discomfort, so I know maybe that was too much for me to handle yet.

Luckily, I've had lots of help and my son has been coming over regularly to take out the garbage, carry the laundry downstairs, vacuum, shovel me out of the snow, etc. It's tough when you live alone, but I'm thankful for all my friends and family.

I did have a problems with hot flashes for a little while after the surgery. My doctor said it's normal and the ovaries will kick back in and you should not have problems for long. I hope that is the case for you! Mine seem to have stopped for the most part, although, I'm 45 and have them occasionally anyway.

Good luck and let us know how you are doing!!

Partial hysterectomy done by laparoscopy

I had a partial hysterctomy (uterus/cervix removed) on 11/14 via laproscopy and I still have periods where I get tired--it's normal. You've gone through surgery and it takes time for your body to heal. Just follow what the doctor tells you and you'll be fine. I woke up a couple times after the surgery with hot flashes but they've gone away.

Hang in there!

I had LAVH on Dec. 11 also. I am absolutely exhausted and just figured I was doing too much! I thought by the time I reached the 3 wk mark that I would be a lot better. It really is two steps forward, one step back! Keep your head up, I know it is hard not to get frusterated. We just want to be ourselves again, and we will. It just takes time!

Good luck!
