When is it safe to vacuum? As far as other cleaning I can do with caution, but vacuuming makes me nervous? (tah/bso)

I wasn't cleared for vacuuming until 6 weeks post-op, and I had an LAVH.

The bad thing is you never know when to go back to doing it and even when you might try you won't know if it's too much until it's too late.

I would say give it the full 6 weeks, I know it's hard because if your like me my floors are a pet peeve with me in keeping clean. It's been terrible trying to not clean them.

I agree! I hate a dirty floor! Especially in the kitchen. Soon we'll be eating off the floor because that seems to be where all the food is! I'm at 5.5wks post-op, I'm gonna go sweep and mop, just can't stand it any longer. I will wait another week or two to vacuum though. Our vacuum is so big and heavy to push.

I had my DD do what needed to be done thank God for her!! I was told NO heavy house work for 6 weeks... or lifting for 6 weeks either..

I vacuumed at 2 weeks but I am begining to think I am a freak! I have had no problems and I am healing really fast. DR was impressed at my 2 week post op appt and said I could more than likely go back to work early. I probably will go back at week 5 only because I am getting a puppy and want time to work with it before getting back into the groove of working!

I didn't go near the vaccum until at least 8 weeks and at that I dragged it around and didn't lift it - I live in a very small bungalow however - so no stairs and no carpets!!! Very easy - wooden & tile floors to there was no pushing involved!

Leave it as long as possible I say!

Vaccum!! UGH! I didnt touch it either for over 6 weeks! Better to be safe than sorry.... just like the X thing (Right Kris?)

I was cleared by my doctor that I could vaccum.
I am still waiting to be cleared for the other!

I just want to mention... check with your doctor, because every doctor has different recommendations. Believe it or not, vacuuming can definitely take a lot out of you... even when it's the vacuum doing all the work. My doctor had initially told me that I could try "light" vacuuming at 4 weeks, but to stop if I felt pulling or started spotting. Then she recanted when I saw her at 4 weeks.
