Tam, youre so right, My doctor was the one who saw the mess I had inside, and she knows what I should and shouldnt do! I am really surprised though that Kris with a TAH was cleared to vaccum so soon, heck I was not cleared to drive for a month and even after that it was only if it was 5 minutes from home to the market. I guess my age and surgery was more involved.. ? Everyone is different!! I sure see that now... HAPPY HEALING!

I believe some of these things can still harm us even at 6 wks post-op. I need to vacuum, but I don't want to hurt myself and feel bad the next day. I'm almost at 6 wks and even though they "release" you, I'm still afraid to go lift things. Drs need to change it to 8 wks IMHO. Then you don't worry as much like should I, or shouldn't I?

As long as you don´t squat! I went proudly vacuuming one day, too soon, and what happened is that I went on as usual, got an idea to fix something on a low shelf too - ouch, it hurt!

Yes I waited longer than 6 weeks.. I really wanted to take it easy as long as I could. The first time I had to lift, really lift, was about 4 months post op, and I was worried even then! Heck Im 51 now...shouldnt really be lifting and moving heavy stuff any more anyway! ha ha

I vacumed for the first time yesterday and it was just a little area, I was so wiped out after that I had to sit down. I think I will leave mine parked for awhile.

I just want to say that I have not done anything without consulting my DR. I didn't have any complications, before, during or after surgery.
My DR did say that I was a fast healer, he has seen it before.
My Aunt who had a TAH was exactly the same way.

I am not trying to brag or show off, I was just answering a post honestly. Please don't take this wrong, I just wanted people to know that I am not doing anything to hurt my recovery.
