Uneven Healing of Vaginal Cuff

Have any of you had an uneven healing of the vaginal cuff? I had a total hysterectomy on Sept.5 and since being given the go ahead, My husband & I have not been able to fully have intercourse. The pain in unbearable. The other night we tried again and I began bleeding. I went the next day to the surgeon who did the surgery and he said I had uneven healing of the vaginal cuff. The skin on one side was growing toward the other side. He cauterized the area and said all should be good in about 2 weeks. Any of you experience this? Does this uneven healing go on and on. In other words do you have to keep going and having the cuff cauterized?.

Uneven Healing of Vaginal Cuff

(((Carol))) it sounds like you had some granulation (unhealed tissue) on your cuff. It can cause pain and bleeding with sex until it heals. Sometimes one silver nitrate or cautery treatment will solve the problem; other times, more than one treatment might be necessary. Using some vaginal estrogen can help it heal more quickly; you might want to ask your DR about that.

I hope you're feeling better soon!

Uneven Healing of Vaginal Cuff

At my last visit in December, my doctor also said I had granulation tissue (uneven healing of tissue). We are just going to watch it for now and see how my symptoms go.... some spotting with irritants, still some discomfort with intercourse. (at least now I know why). I am not looking forward to the treatment of cauterization or just cutting it off in his office. Doesn't sound too pleasant to me. I was hoping we were done with the bad stuff. However, I shouldn't complain. Other than minor twinges, I have felt great since my surgery. So far so good.
