when to wear contact lenses - any ideas?

I can vaguely remember reading somewhere before my op that you should not wear your contact lenses. I have left them out so far as I didn't want any more irritation ( I have only started with them 6 months ago) but I am wondering if anyone has had more detailed advice on this?

Thanks

when to wear contact lenses - any ideas?

I wore my contacts to the hospital took them out in the parking lot and put on my glasses. No one cares about contacts before surgery-it is during the surgery. I kept my glasses until being rolled into surgery.
I left my contacts out after surgery for the first 4 wks I wasn't going anywhere, and it made napping easier. I've worn contacts since I was 13 and am now 47. TAH/BSO.
I felt like if I had used contacts during recovery it would just be a waste, I saved the lens for when I am out and about. Good Luck.

Yes, no contacts at the hospital. I had to buy a new pair of glasses as mine were really old. Consequently, I've worn my new glasses all 6 weeks after surgery. Saved on contacts!

I put my contacts in a couple of days after surgery, and have been wearing them as usual ever since. Didn't seem to bother me much.

I actually put my contacts on while in the hospital, the morning after surgery. Staff didn't have a problem with it and I haven't had any trouble with them over the past 4 weeks.

when to wear contact lenses - any ideas?

My vision has changed after surgery. Is this typical? I have two different prescriptions (one eye is for up close and the other is distance). I have had to wear reading glasses on top of contacts if I really want to read print! Sitting here at the computer, I have three pairs of glasses around me. My regular bifocals (which aren't very effective) and two pairs from Walmart. That is the only way that I can see.

I don't want to go to the eye doctor right now - I had a full exam 6 months ago and don't think my sight would have deteriorated that fast. Has anyone else had vision problems like mine? I know I've read about some vision changes, so I haven't been overly concerned, thinking it will clear up. I'm about 2 1/2 weeks post surgery. I only tried contacts on two separate days since then.

Oh...and "hi". This is my first post. I've been lurking on here since before my surgery (TAH/BSO) This site is totally awesome. You all have really helped me with a lot of concerns and to know that I'm not losing my mind at times. ha!

I think I will....next week or so. I just didn't know if it was "normal" or not. But I'm about to get real frustrated with not being able to see. Aarugh!

My life is way too hectic to think about "me" right now. My FIL is in the middle of open heart surgery - quadruple bypass - as I type. We almost lost him on Sunday.
