Is it just me? Pain after going back to work...

Maybe I need some Ambien too! I went back to work yesterday and was tired and sore but really better than expected. I just knew I could fall right back to sleep but NO. I had a hard time sleeping. This morning, I just wanted to stay in bed and cry. I got up, took Tylenol and went to work teaching 5th graders. I had a meeting after work and by 6:30 thought I was going to die. My stomach is swollen and I too have burning pain across my abdomen. I am not moving from my bed for the rest of the night. If tomorrow isn't better, I may take Thursday off!

I sure hope you have a restful evening Stroutwoman! I told the doc I HAD to get some rest. How are we supposed to get better if we can't SLEEP? I totally feel your pain! Are your kids being sensitive? Mine are, the little sweeties.... Well, not so little. I am off to bed. I can't wait to see if this is gonna work!

Is it just me? Pain after going back to work...

Since Monday was my first day back I took Tylenol PM Sunday night because I knew I would not be able to sleep. I was so tired after working 6 hrs yesterday I was really dreading today. I felt like you did when the alarm went off this morning, I just wanted to cry. I worked another 6 hrs today and I think I felt better than yesterday. This is alot harder than I thought it was going to be. The week prior to go back to work I felt that I was ready to go, but I am thinking I had no idea.

I wish everyone a good day tomorrow.....

Roasarita, I don't particularly like going to see my doctor either. I couldn't tell if he thought I should or shouldn't go back to work. I went for my 2 week post op today and told him I was still so tired and still hurting. I told him if I started back tomorrow, I could only go back for 1/2 days. All he said was "fine, do you need a note?" What kind of answer is that? Anyway, I teach 2nd grade and do not feel I would be able to last longer than 1/2 day tomorrow. I will post and let you know how it goes. I do not look forward to getting up at 5:00 a.m! Also, I've dealt with insomnia for a long time and have taken something similar to ambien for quite some time. I don't know how I would survive without it. I hope you get some sleep! Good luck to everyone who is facing the struggles of having to go back to work! Take care of yourselves!

Fibrobabe,
I think you will be miserable going back to work. 2nd graders are very demanding. I thought with 5th graders I could sit quite a bit. I was wrong. If I am sitting, to them I am out of sight and the saying goes... out of sight, out of mind. I have to be on my feet to be seen and "feared". I love being back in the classroom but it is tough. Good luck to you if you try 1/2 a day.

Is it just me? Pain after going back to work...

I went back to work Monday (TAH). Sitting upright for 9 1/2 hrs was a bit hard. Today, I only made it 7 hours and I had to go home. I felt a slight burning sensation inside, kinda like how a new incision feels. I get up and walk around while at work, I take a 20 minute walk at lunch, and stand up several times to stretch. But it still hurts sitting in that desk chair. Guess I got spoiled wearing my comfy clothes and being in my recliner. And YES, when that alarm went off this morning, I wanted to cry. I came home and took a 3 hr nap. I wish I had the option to work only 1/2 days this week, but unforturnately, my leave is exhausted, waaaaaahhh!

Stroutwoman, I may "try" tomorrow, but if it doesn't go well then I will take off Thur and Fri and try half days next week. I know what you mean about out of sight, out of mind. I can just see the chaos now! lol. On the one hand, I'm lucky that my sub is certified, but on the other hand, my principal had the same procedure done several years ago on the same day and came back to work on the 2nd of Jan. I'm hoping she doesn't think I'm a wimp because I don't want to overdo it and wind up with more problems. Her job was a little different in that she was free to go sit down when she needed to--or close her door when she needed to rest (she does that frequently anyway.)

msdee2, I'm so sorry you don't have 1/2 days! try to take it as easy as you can and pamper yourself when you get home!

Is it just me? Pain after going back to work...

Going back to work is just plain ole difficult! I am 12 weeks post op and 4 weeks back to work. I have the luxury of working from home, and I don't know who you gals are getting up and dressed, driving to and from the office and working 8 to 10 hours a day.

I can't even sit in my office chair at my desk all day. I feel as though I broke my tail bone along with all the other aches and pains from no estrogen. I put a low chair and a heating pad and work from my computer and only get up to print...

It has gotten better for me - it took about 3 weeks not to feel so tired every day. I no longer have to set the alarm at noon for an hour snooze. I just work through lunch now and end at 4:30pm.

I hope that you feel better soon!

I feel so much better! I took today off. I went and got blood drawn to check for the hormone issues. I took the ambien last night and slept like a log. I knew all I needed was a good nights sleep! I am looking up from here! It can only get better, right? It's amazing how different the world looks through rested eyes! Hope you all did ok today. I am going back tomorrow to try again!

Is it just me? Pain after going back to work...

Hey all! I made it! I was doing fine at 8:30--the kids were happy to see me and dancing around with 'I mist you' cards, and I started thinking wow! Not so bad, maybe I could stay all day (did I mention it was only 8:30?). We sped through most of the morning with me on my feet walking around the whole time and at 10:30 I began to look at that clock and start thinking when, oh when is 11:30 going to get here? The kids didn't look so cute by then, their talking was agitating me, and I swear that it was the longest hour I've ever spent! Anyway, there was, of course, 19 million things that needed my immediate attention, a play to gather money for, messages to go through, notes to write back to, report cards to hand out, ambassadors to pick, etc. etc. How I managed to do it all, I'll never know, but I was out the door by 11:50 --completely exhausted, of course! I now have my feet propped up with my laptop in my lap. I feel a nap coming on ... will we ever get our strength back?! Going back to work stinks!
