Sex really hurts

I had a TAH BSO in April of 2007. The drs. took everything but my cervix because there was too much endometriosis. I am not on any HRT because the drs. don't think it's safe for me. But I do use an estrogen vaginal cream. I had sex for the first time since the surgery about a few weeks ago. It really hurt. Like I felt I was being stabbed. Then, when I tried to have it again recently, it still hurt really bad. I thought the cream would take care of this problem but it isn't. Can someone tell me what I can do? The pain gets so bad that I don't think sex is worth it anymore, but I'm just curious to know if anything can be done or if anyone has experienced the same thing?

Sex really hurts

I am 4 months post op and had everything removed. I too am experiencing severe pain and am not able to perform. I went to the surgeon and he examined me and said that I had uneven healing of the vaginal cuff and he cauterized it and told me to use lots of lubrication.

Try looking at the As We Change website, they have products for us to improve our sex life. I have tryed the PC muscle toys and I found them pleasuable and helpful. I am also using testro. cream that I put on my clit 15 mins before sex. It turns up the drive and will help you self lubicate.
I got it from my homopath it is not harmful if tasted, she did not say it taste good. Make sure you have an all natural product.
I am on progest. and the testro. topical creams that I use everyday.
I would guess since it hurt the first time you now are a bit afraid to try. I think if you would order some PC toys and use them they will help you get back in the game and feel good about your ability to have sex. Don't quit sex is worth it. TAH/BSO

Sex really hurts

I just posted a similar thread myself this morning. I've been crying all morning because intercourse has been so painful for the last 2 years I haven't had any and one of the big reasons I had the TAH was to have a better sex life. so last nite when we tried for the first time it felt like I was being stabbed with a knife!! NO different and no improvement since before my surgery. I guess we'll just keep trying and trying and hope for the best. It is very discouraging and my heart goes out to all of us. It has to get better right???

Sex really hurts

I know my first time after surgery was painful as well. But since then, I have learned a few things.

We have to remember that the surgery majorly affected that area - the tissues were handled and bruised. Not to mention, a lot of us haven't been sexually active for awhile. So not only are things tighter, it can also be drier. Just like being a virgin, things are going to be painful if you aren't slow and careful. The cervix also does drop some since it doesn't have the uterus holding it up, so it may get hit more, and that can be painful.

My doctor said the main thing is to make sure there is plenty of lubrication. Go slow, let things readjust and stretch, and let the tissues get used to the 'friction' again. Again - lubrication is the key.

And even though some of us kept our ovaries, if the vaginal tissues aren't getting enough estrogen, they can feel even more raw and painful when touched.

My hubby and I have been very careful to take things very slow as far as penetration. Lots of lubrication as well. And might I suggest that position wise, you are on top. That way you can control the depth of penetration and well as the rhythm.

Things have gotten better! I hope the same happens for you ladies as well!

Luvs2Quilt, are you using your vaginal cream only before having sex, or did you go through the using it nightly for about a month and then 2-3 times weekly? The cream has to be used regularly after the first month to keep the vaginal tissues strong and supple. And, I can't emphasize enough what some of the other ladies here posted--take your time to relax beforehand, use plenty of lubrication (more is better than less in this case), and then make sure your partner goes slow and easy. Even with the cream you will still be tender for quite a while, so you really do have to be careful with yourself.

My dr. gave me something like Estrodial cream, or similar. But he told me to only use it one to three times a week because it can cause cancer. But only using it for that short a time doesn't help. It still hurts. What kind of cream do you use? Is KY jelly any good? Because I can't take the pain.

Luvs2Quilt, I use Estrace vaginal cream. It was prescribed for using for about a month every night and after that 2-3 times per week. That worked for me. Maybe you should consult again with your doctor and find something that will work for you.
