one step back

I had a really good day yesterday and although I thought I was being careful, I guess I must have done too much. Yesterday evening I started having a sharp pain. Not sure exactly what was hurting but it is in the general vicinity of where my uterus would have been. And I've had some light spotting. This morning I am very tired and still hurting although not as bad. I plan to stay off my feet today, just in case. I'm very frustrated. My hubby is off today and we had plans. But the weather outside is nasty anyway. Fits well with my mood. We got about 5" of snow last night with a coating of ice on top. It's raining lightly now and everything is starting to melt so it is a mess.

Anyway, ladies, be careful as you work back into the normal routines. It's easy to get to feeling better and not hear the messages our bodies are trying to send us to take it slow even though we want to go fast.
Hope everyone has a great day in spite of the weahter.

doing things

Hi Purplefreak
I face the same issue, one day I feel great, do a few things too much, then bango I feel worse, spot more etc. No pain now thank God.
I have 4 weeks more before returning to work, some days I feel good and somewhat guilty that I am not back yet,
I am wrestling with that currently. I want to go back when I am solid/ready, going back too soon, cant get back out again etc.
we must learn to pace ourselves, tough eh?
we are due about 4-6" of snow tonight oh joy!
stay well

It's nice to hear from several of my sisters who have surgery dates close to mine. I am happy to report that my recovery is going well, even though I still have tenderness and soreness and swelly belly. I was able to go to church on Sunday, too, but wore slacks. (Had to buy slacks a size too big so they would fit over the swelly belly.) That is the most frustrating part--was hoping the swelly belly would be less or even gone by now. But all in all, I am thankful that is all I have to complain about. Energy is good and getting better.

Purplefreak--good idea, stay off your feet today and rest. I'll say prayers for you to be free of pain and spotting.

We've got the same weather system you do in Indiana. Lots of snow yesterday topped with a nice thick layer of ice. It's supposed to keep sleeting and then some more snow on top of that today. Oh joy.

DH has been sick for weeks...antibiotics haven't helped, and he coughed all night and woke up with a high fever this morning, so he's driving to the doc now to rule out pneumonia or flu. It's good that he's a systems analyst and can work from computer at home, but the downside is that he doesn't rest like he should (always on call). My job is to go around with the disinfectant and try to keep the rest of the family from getting it.

I am continuing to heal, having a few twinges of pain here and there, which is new. I wonder if I just hadn't felt it before because of swelling. Anyway, nothing severe. I am supposed to go back to work cleaning houses next week. Providing my kids and I are healthy, I should be able to.

Everyone stay warm, dry and well!

I made it !!!

I had my full abdominal hysterectomy on the 11th of Jan and things have went well apart from a few wee things.

Arrived at hospital at around 10am i had been in a lot of pain all week and the nurses thought it was a urine infection so i was put straight on iv antibiotics went to surgery around 1pm suppose to be in around 45mins to an hour lol.

I was in surgery for 4 hours turns out i didn't have a urine infection my appendix were bursting .

Apart from that the op went fine my doc says i was riddled with endo and my ovaries were covered in cysts however i am getting on fine now apart from the hot flushes (nightmare) this pain is a lot less than the pain from endo just trying to get back to normal the kids have been great helping out and my husband is an absolute godsend i could have not done this without him.

Anyway i hope you are all a lot better

I'm away for a lie down now i am feeling a bit tired

Take care everyone xxx

Welcome Nikki!

Hi there Nikki!

Wow - I am glad you were where you were supposed to be with that burst appendix! I have seen other ladies on this site that had an apppendectomy, so I wonder if the endometriosis (sp?) can cause that to flare up.

I was reading another post today (Renee's I think) and realized that my indigestion issues could have been caused by pressure on my innards, my dr said that I had quite a bit of "endo" tho that was not the original reason for my hyst.

Glad you found this website and our "date" thread. Please don't be shy about asking all those nagging questions, that is what we are all here for. We'll speak up if we think its a dr question!

Happy Healing!

Hey all just like loriannemalone I have enjoyed the "Wow you have lost Weight" or "You look so skinny" I have lost 22lbs since surgery and I feel great and now I am so motivated. I still have pain it is like a twinge crampy constant pain. I only take pain meds at night and mainly because I try in my sleep to roll onto my stomach and wake in pain. I have not had many menopause issues so that good. All in all I am feeling pretty good. I can still out sleep the best of them, man I get tired sometimes. It sure will be nice too feel 100% and have no pain and not get so wiped out!! Looking forward to it

I am a bit down today. I had so many good days in a row that I got over confident. (Even had the night in the little black dress!)Felt almost completely normal for the last few days.

After working 3 full days (but going to sleep early) I was on a construction site today, climbing ladders ('how stupid,' I can hear you all saying) standing out in the cold for about an hour. I've been feeling so normal that I just went back to my normal activity. So many of my clients have been waiting for me that I feel a lot of pressure to be back. In my field (architecture)it's hard to work part time or push things off for too long.

By the one hour point I began to have that dizzy light headed feeling. Belly hurt in new weird ways (probably from the climbing) and exhaustion descended like a wave (a weird feeling.) I came home and laid down and now I don't feel right at all. Also have an increase in that pink discharge that has never completely stopped (but at least no longer smelly.) Pain again on the right side where there was that fluid collection. Yuk.

I am writing this because I am mad at myself but also to give warning to everyone that even at 4+ weeks out, we can still overdo it, I guess. I wonder how I'm going to ever know when I can go back to my regular pace. I thought that by this time, and after 3 full normal days, I was in the clear. Guess not.

Anyway, just wanted to commiserate.
