This is day 6 and the nurse told me to get a fiber supplement, which I took at lunch. Feel like I'm drowning in all the stuff I'm drinking, but no luck. Dr's office isn't willing to let me take M.O.M. yet til they see how the supplement does. Ugh! So glad I have you all to talk to about this. Just isn't the thing to say when people call and ask how you're doing, is it?

On the positive side, I'm finding that I need the pain meds less frequently, and the headaches have gone so, I'm super thankful for that!

Knock on wood but I haven't had the fainted sign of a headache either which was another major reason that finally drove me to decide on the hyster!! This is the longest stretch I have gone without a Relpax. I just hope I don't end up with rebound headaches from the Tylenol (during the day) and the Darvocet (at night)!! I am glad to hear you are seeing relief also:-)

Hi Sisters,

Things are okay here for me. Some pain, still relying on my Lortab 4 times a day. My left side gives me grief quite a bit. I am getting up from the recliner a lot easier but very slowly. No nausea, minimal gas and I had my first bm on day 3, 2 more have followed. What a relief!

I am walking okay, several times a day outdoors on the pool patio and around the house. The animals think I am insane. They stare when I lounge, when I struggle to get up and down and when I walk circles around the house. I do not let them lay with me so they are bummed.

Some of the things I would like to do on week 2: Actually sleep in the bed. Take less Lortab. Fix hair and makeup daily even if only my pj's fit well...

Anyone else still really swollen?

Hello everyone,
Just a quick note on the BM & then off to rest. I was given stool Softeners and Metamucil every morning and evening in the hospital and was told to do the the same at home, except cut the SS back to one a day and see what happens. I went back to two. The nurses explained that the pain meds (I was given Morphine, and then went to pills - percocet (reaction to) finally Vicadone) that you take cause constipation. Check with your Dr. about what he thinks. It worked for me before I even left the hospital. Also was given GASX daily. It sure makes it more comfortable.

RE: BMs

I read about Miralax on some of the posts here so I asked my dr. He said okay. It worked in 3 days for me. Nice soft stool not runny...sorry if TMI.

Oh ladies, I'm soooooo frustrated! After the fiber the doctor gave the okay for M.O.M. I am still waiting. Tomorrow is one week and I really feel lots of pressure but can't make anything happen and straining is a no no after all the stiches he's put in. Prayers appreciateed. Am soooooo uncomfortable right now.

I had a great night last night - the first good sleep I've had since the night after surgery, and even that wasn't great (had a difficult roommate in the hospital). But today's been less than stellar. Not the worst day, but not the best either. I've been dealing with more pain than I have been, but I think some of that is due to gas and slow bowels than real post-op pain. I had my first BM the day after coming home, and had 7 in 36 hours. I've had 1 in the last 24 hours, and that was after some work (doing all I could to *NOT* strain).

I did go back to work today- but I work at home, doing internet research. My doctor said it was up to me, whatever I felt like doing; and since I can sit in the recliner with the laptop, felt like today was ok. My supervisors know what's going on, and know that I may have days where I can't/don't feel like working - so work really isn't a problem for me.

Hopefully I can sleep well tonight. We'll see.

You are in my thoughts. Miralax and LOTS of water really helped me in just 3 days. No straining at all...

I wake up at 4 am every morning post-op. Not normally a morning person, so this is odd. Anyone else doing quirky stuff like that?
