How to handle this

I have a friend who was diagnosed about a year ago with pancreatic cancer. She has fought a very hard battle, we almost lost her around Christmas last year.

Her markers are down and the cancer is shrinking. All her blood work shows that she is a healthy woman except that her kidneys are failing. She had a rare side effect from the Chemo that makes her red blood cells burst and this is making her kidneys fail. She has been given 1-3 months to live.

She is always on my mind and I pray for her everyday. I have been having insomnia the last few nights worrying about her because she is getting worse. I have not seen her in a while because she is a very private person but I have been sending her messages through the Caring Bridge.

I guess that I just needed to get this out and see if it will help me deal with it.

Thanks for letting me get these words out and taking the time to read it.

One very heart broken sister!

Big big S
I'm so sorry that your friend is having to go through this. I'm sure that it is really hard for you Just be there for her when she needs you, keep on praying and remember to take care of yourself too.

I lost my mom to cancer and know how difficult it can be.

I am sorry to hear about your friend. You are a true friend and care about her so much. I will pray that God gives you peace, and your friend comfort and healing.

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit

Thank you both for your replies!
She was back in the ER today with fluid in her chest. She was refusing to be admitted. That is the latest that I have heard. From what I was told we will be lucky if she makes the week.

How to handle this

My young cousin just got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He is 30 at most, just married last year, and his young wife has lupus. They just had a small child.

I know how you feel. It's so shocking!

I will pray for you. I want to write my cousin a letter, but don't know him all that well. Not sure what to say.

I will add your cousin and his wife to my prayers also!

I had the same thing about what to say but I told her how much she meant to me and that if she needed anything at all day or night

SHe is doing better this morning. Last night she got 12 hours of sleep, the most she had since her first diagnoses.

God Bless

How to handle this

The latest update on my friend is that her health is rapidly declining. If she is awake she is very easily agitated, refusing to eat, not very stable on her feet and can be very mean. The Dr said that this is part of losing the battle. She has said her Good-byes and has been having conversations with her Mom who died when she was young.
She is possible being put in the hospital tomorrow where they will have her in a chemical coma.
I guess we will see what tomorrow brings, there has been times that she surprises everyone.
I have mentally started preparing myself for the future without my friend.

Thanks for listening
