I had my 6 week post op yesterday as well. She did an internal exam, and it really wasn't bad! I spotted a tiny bit afterwards but it was not painful at all, just pressure. I don't have to go back until my annual which is in Nov.

I had one yesterday. They just did a little exam with a vaginal ultrasound placed in, and just your basic one-finger with a little poking on the belly.

I was kind of scared too about that whole vaginal cuff thing, but it wasn't bad at all, not to worry. The doc told me I was already sealed up in there after four weeks, so that alleviated a lot of fear. I got to see the ultrasound picture, and I looked like a little hollow pumpkin, all cleaned up for Halloween, nothing scarey at all! I think we all are afraid that they will look up there and break something open, but they are doctors and know how to handle things.

You'll be just fine.

I had mine today and was so concerned that it would hurt, but it didn't. I woke up in pain and took ibuprofen and tylenol at 6am, and didn't see the doc until 11am. By then my belly felt better. The exam was as some others have described: pressure, with a bit of cramping afterward. I haven't had to take any add'l pain meds since. I even did an errand on my way home. Whew!

I had my LSH on December 3rd and my internal on Jan. 3rd
and it was the first pelvic exam that did not hurt in a long time.

HUGE relief to read these posts! My post-op isn't until next week and I have been already dreading it. This thread has been great, not so scared now! May have to reread it next week while in the waiting room tho! Kidding.
I will post afterwards. Thanks again!

I didn't enjoy my post-op "inspection" and have to go back next week for another one. Yes, a lot of pushing and pressure. Had to take a 800mg motrin afterwards and I was sore. Having not had children, pelvic exams are hurtful for me as well as traumatic. I would rather have 100 mammograms than a pelvic!
