Pre-op soon and Big Day approaching!

I have anxiety so bad I can't get motivated to do anything but keep my recliner warm! I have my "to do list" but haven't done anything on it. I did go out and buy some pj's for recovery! I am going thru the Icy Hot like lotion for my tension building in my neck, just want this over and to feel better!

I totally understand how you're feeling. Everybody goes through this. I was a nervous wreck. You just somehow get through it and then it will be overwith and you'll be so happy. Maybe you could get your Dr. to prescribe you something for your nerves. I have panic disorder and anxiety disorder, which I take meds for. If I could get through it, anybody can. I had to wait 3 months for my surgery!! That's a long time to worry! Incidentally, my panic and anxiety has gotten better since my surgery. I blame hormonal imbalance because of my ovaries. Now that they're gone I don't have such fluctuations and am on a more even keel.

Pre-op soon and Big Day approaching!

Sunfinder,

I too am off to see the tailor on 1/22. I've also got a "to do" list that's a mile long, and here I sit, fretting at 5 am, curled up in my comfy bed polishing off a can of Poppycock. I don't think I'm overly nervous about the surgery (TAH), I just want it to be OVER with already so I can get back to feeling human again.

I've had my surgery scheduled for 3 months, and the anxiety didn't start hitting me bad until this week. I've got so much to do between now and then, and work folks (the males, of course . . . ) are already bugging me about what I'll be able to do while I'm out on LOA (it's called LOA for a REASON, dumb butts!!!). My Christmas tree is still up, the house is untidy, I'm out of town with work all this week and next, and all I care to do is shop til I drop for every last item that I think I might need while I'm down - new robes, sleepshirts, jammies, slippers, big girl panties and baggy/comfy post-op gear, hospital survival gear (Swelly Belly, ear plugs, eye mask, Airborne), blah blah blah the list (and the damage) goes on and on. I've taken stress shopping to a whole new level. And sleep? What's sleep? Perhaps it's time for meds??!!

Hang in there, my princess in waiting. You're not alone. My exhausted remains will see you on the other side!

Pre-op soon and Big Day approaching!

I understand your anxiety and think it's pretty normal. My surgery is next Wednesday and yesterday I had a 90 minute sit-down with my doctor to discuss every little detail. He was great and while I felt a bit woozy during the discussion, I feel much better about the whole thing. My questions were asked and I'm not feeling as scared. He also prescribed a sleeping pill for the next few days. Didn't have it filled yesterday but I should have and will tonight. The anxiety is keeping me up so I'm running on empty and nerves. Perhaps when you have your preop and can get all your questions answered you'll feel better? I agree with the others though - if it's real bad you could ask to have an anxiety med. My dr. offered but I turned it down. Hang in there...and come here often! These ladies are wonderful!

I feel for you I was there just the other day. The waiting is the worst. See if your doc will give you something mine gave me valium ahead of time. I was still nervous but at least got some of my to do list done. Best of luck to you.

I found it helpful to easy the tension and jitters by going to the store, and getting some nice loose sweat pants, Jello-pudding treats, etc. Little things to make it less scarey and negative. That got me motivated for doing the bigger preparations.

If there is one thing I would say to do, is to be sure that you put things you commonly use in easy reach. You'll be surprised how much you normally bend over, and that for me, was one of the more challenging things.
