I had my Da Vinci robotic surgery to remove endometrial cancer on 12/27. I went for my post-op visit yesterday and asked the doctor about my swollen abdomen below my belly button. He said it was normal and would go away with time. Being on the heavier side to begin with, does anyone know how long it will take for the swelling to go down? The doctor said "it would eventually go away" but I didn't ask him if that was weeks, months or years. I was attending Weight Watchers before my cancer diagnosis and was planning to return to meetings when I recover. I'm hoping this is not a lost cause!

I am a plus size too and the way I knew mine was gone is when I was able to get back into my jeans. I was about 2 wks post-op but I do heal quickly.

I am starting a whole new life! I figured a new me & new year, why not! I start the Zone this weekend and I can't wait for the ok to start getting my muscles back in shape.

Good Luck

Thank you. I'm just now two weeks post-op. I can get back in my jeans but it just feels funny. I have had four abdominal operations (2 C-sections, one hernia and one appendix) that left me without a lot of muscle in my abdomen in the first place. Hopefully this full feeling will go away soon so I can begin walking with ease.

Nancy1, as a plus sized sister as well, I can understand your concern. I am 11 weeks out today, and the swelling isn't as bad as it was in the beginning, but I still have some. I've seen some posts that say it can take as long as 5-6 months, but I'm praying that isn't the case. I can get back into my jeans (yea!), and am able to go back to the gym, so hoping that will help some. I told them girls who weigh and measure that I may come in during the morning time for that since I won't be quite so swollen then.

Take care and "this too shall pass".

I'm fluffy as well and 6.5 wks from a TAH. My belly is slowly starting to feel more normal, but the swelling does happen later in the day. I could wear my jeans around 3 weeks but everything was so numb. It's getting a little more feeling now and doesn't feel like one of those big fake bellys so much anymore.
