New to site and need to talk to someone in my shoes!

Hello! This is my first time here and I am anxious to talk with other women who are going through what I am right now. I made my decision yesterday to have a hysterectomy and am a little nervous, sad, scared and happy. I am looking forward to talking someone!

I am having a vag-hyst as of right now. I am going to take med to reduce the size of fibroid and uterus for 3 months so I can have a quick recovery. I am keeping my ovaries but getting rid of everything else. Am anxious about med to reduce fibroids. I am reading a lot of good and bad about the med. I pray that it works out the way my doctor and I hope!

Welcome Barbie!

As kkhill said, this is a great site, and I hope you find it as helpful and supportive as I have. I had a TVH, kept the ovaries as well, 10/15/07, and my physical recovery has been pretty good. Emotionally I am still on a bit of a wild ride, not sure if there's a hormone lack, or too much, or still recovering from Christmas ! After having 3 different docs suggest a hyst, I'm glad I fianlly went ahead and did it. It's hard to believe that I have skipped 3 (or 4?) cycles now, and the knowledge that I no longer have to buy those super tampons is incredibly liberating! Good luck with your surgery, and ask any questions you have... that's what we're here for!!

You will be so happy you found this site. People are helpful. I have only been ready post up until yesterday, but as I approach my day, I felt I needed a little more support than I thought. ))

I, too, am new here and just scheduled my hyst. Not sure if it can be LSH because of three large fibroids but gonna try for it. After reading some of these posts I do not think I have any idea of what to expect.

Hello and welcome!!!!
I was put on Lupron injections last june, after leaving the hospital.I had real loe blood and needed 4 pints of blood. My dr. found hugh fibroids(one the size of a canteloue)as wella s smaller ones and an enlarged uterus.I spen 5 months on the shots and even though a lot of ladies had bad side affects they were worth it for me.I did gain a little weight and got a litle cranky due to the hot flashes. My dr. scheduled my TAH(kept ovaries)for Dec.5th..My largest tumor had shrunk by half. I am now 5 weeks post op and feeling so much better.I am already enjoying life so much more.May God Bless you and I will keep you in my prayers.

Hi Kylady re your bloodloss .

In 2001 I lost 11 Units !! (of the about 14 units in the human body) with a ectpic pregnancy! I thought I was starting to get my period and took lots of motrin for the cramps. There was a bad flu going around at the same time that had rest of the family down and we thought that was what I had for 2 days until I started passing out from blood loss and extreme pain.

HELLO 911. I have always been a blood donor through out my life (31) and was thankful for the donor's that unknowingly donated for me.
