Dr called it a "Shelf" Anyone else have one?

I'm about 70 pounds overweight. When in the hospital I was able to see the bandages on my incision. 7 days post-op I developed a hemotoma. Suddenly tummy swollen and no longer able to see bandages. Wound clinic Dr called it a "Shelf". I am now 8 weeks post-op but only 3 weeks from being released from the wound vac. Belly is now to the point when I'm standing my belly hangs over the incision. If you look at me in profile it looks like my belly shapes a "U". Has anyone else had this problem and is there anything I can do to make it go away? I tried using an abdominal binder, but that HURT!

I haven't experienced the hematoma issues but do have extra belly weight. The overhang isn't unusual from what I understand. I purchased mild support Hanes underwear from Target. They helped to keep everything supported and not so jiggly. Also have used ice packs when resting and laying flat helps too. I'm 3 months post-op this week and things are feeling better very day.

I have the shelf from an exploratory surgery I had in 2006! They told me it was because of the type of cut they used. I believe it was called a "fillet" cut. I still have it, so not too sure it goes away.
