Feeling down at 3 weeks post op

I'm 25 days post op from a TAH (kept ovaries)/full tummy tuck. Everything went as planned, and I'm recovering normally.

Mentally, I was feeling really good as I recovered, outside of tenderness and discomfort from the major muscle repair I had w/the TT. I even felt especially fond towards dh in that *certain way.* But yesterday and today I feel bummed, and rather cranky, and that special feeling for dh has gone away... I'm normally an optimistic person, so it's hard to deal with.

BTW, I haven't taken any pain meds since Day 10 PO. (I heard that they can cause depression.)

DH wonders if maybe my ovaries are to blame.

Can any of you relate?

Elf ears...

I lost my ovaries and dr. started me on HRT immediately, so it hasn't been too bad for me, although there has been a bit of up and down during the process....

.. however, i believe some other ladies on here talk about your ovaries "sleeping" for awhile after surgery and it might take awhile for them to start working at full speed again.

Don't be shy about calling your dr. and telling him what is going on.....you don't need to feel like you have to "tough it out" by yourself.

hang in there!

Thanks, Annie. If it keeps up or gets worse I will call my Dr.

I was a wreck at 3-4 weeks. I cried and cried about everything. I was real close to calling the doc when everything finally settled down. I gave myself a window of time that I would allow the crying to continue. It lasted almost a week. I've seen others post about the 3 week mark. Hang in there! You will be fine. Keep posting cause it really helped me. Your body has been through a LOT!

I keep my ovaries also but it had a different effect on me I found myslef very angry, I would blow up over anything, I called my Dr because I was having problems sleeping and she started me on the patch. Since that I have not had any problems.

Ok, I am only 10 days post-op and for the last 4 days, I have been crying over everything! I just started the estrogen patch 3 days ago and I am on an anti-depressant. I had a total abdominal hysterectomy, no uterus, no cervix, no ovaries. My recovery has been basically a piece of cake. I have stopped all pain meds 3-4 days ago. I take it this will pass from what I am hearing.....I hope!

Thanks Annie! I needed to hear that from someone else too! I just started the same dosage in a patch and so far today is good day, so maybe it's getting better!

lessamj, I'm sorry you're having such a hard time at only 10 days. Maybe it'll end all the sooner, though...
