Feeling depressed 3 weeks post op
I have been so emotional lately. Feeling a little down. Scared about going to work next week.
Anyone else have the blues?
I don't have much family support, only DH. No one has called, or visited, or asked if I need help. I am so angry at my MIL for not atleast being there for DH- He was so nervous and scared and I was in surgery for 4 hours. I guess I feel so bottled up.

PrincessN, Vent away! And yes, I've been feeling blue the last few days, and more tired. You had surgery the same day I did. I work from home so I don't have that worry, but I do find I have much less patience with people these days, whether it's being inconsiderate or downright stupid. Are you on HRT?
I'm so sorry you don't have much support and your MIL is being a stinker, but you have all of us now, so you'll find more support than you can deal with in a day! We're all there, or have just been there, so you are loved, and you are supported, and you are thought of.
I think the emotions are all part of the package, not fun, but YOU'RE NOT ALONE!

Hi PrincessN , Bless your heart . It seems like weeks 3 and 4 were probably the worst for me. I was very emotional and sometimes still am. It took awhile for me to get my hormones just right and as I am still fairly new they are still being "tweaked." You have just had major surgery, you are not feeling supported, and your hormones are having to settle down...you have been through a lot. Be very kind and gentle with yourself. As kwinner said you will find lots of support here .I know that I find lots of encouragement every time I "sign in." Just log on and say ! God bless you.
s and Blessings, Lisa

Hi PrincessN,
I think I can understand what you are talking about.
When I had my LSH (two large fibroids), I heard from several family members...except my youngest sister. Nothing...not a peep from her. I thought if anyone could understand what I was going through...it would have been her. She had a myomectomy for a large fibroid a few years ago. I got depressed about it. I just tried to let it go. To be honest...it really bugged me!!!
Fast forward to this last May...and my sister was scheduled for a hyst for fibroids. The fibroid had returned. Funny thing was... last year she was really avoiding going to a Dr. for her fibroids. I found a Dr. online in her area...she had a consultation...liked his opinion on how to proceed and she had her hyst with him.
I decided to let my feelings go about my own hyst and my sister's non-involvement...and I made sure I talked to her and e-mailed her all around her surgery date. I treated her like I wish she had treated me.
The lesson I learned with my hyst?? I had to let my expectations go. That I could not depend on some people I thought I could...at the time of my surgery...my sister for one...and then again a couple of people I thought I would not hear from at all...called me.
Caring is something in ourselves. If your MIL is not helping out right now...it is a reflection on HER...NOT you!!! Just remember that.
And you always have us Hyster Sisters!! Remember that too.
Best wishes with your reecovery~
Mary

I can understand what you're going through. I am 4 weeks post op and my hormones are finally starting to even out. It is very disappointing when you think people are going to call and check on you and they don't. Things will start looking up for you. We are all thinking of you. Whenever you are down, come on here and we'll be your cheerleaders!

Let us know how tomorrow goes, sooner is always better than later! The mood stuff is normal, drag for those that love us, but normal! Maybe your doc has ideas about hormone levels? But my theory is I have a new body, it's getting used to me and I'm getting used to it. I'm trying to do it with as much grace as I can, but some days it's just not a pretty picture. Hey, they'd be grumpy too if they just had organs removed - right?!
Give yourself grace my friend, and I'll be thinking about you tomorrow, hope you leave knowing you're right where you should be and everything you feel is normal!

PrincessN
Hang in there, things will turn around. I was a mess days 4-6, and then again at 3 weeks. I would cry at the drop of a hat, patience was not my strong point, I snapped at everyone and everything, I too got so frustrated with anyone and everyone, especially those I work with that I got online and started looking for another job! I was so down, that I lost it in the doctors office at my 3 week post op visit. She told me to give it a little more time, we just had a significant change in our lives and it will take some time to even out. My 8 yr old DD even told me "mom, you have been really grouchy since your surgery." OUCH!! It's now been 4 weeks and I have turned the corner. My temperment is still a little short but I feel more like myself. I think it helps that I feel better and have been getting a little more active. I am no longer sitting on the couch trying to figure out how to pass the time and wondering why isn't anyone calling like they said they would?
It's nice to know there are a lot of women here willing to listen and send many cyber hugs your way!
