brownish discharge

I have been having a brownish discharge, I know this is TMI but it seems to have an odd sweet smell. Do you think it might be an infection?

brownish discharge

Hi paulsdoll77
Brown discharge is old blood and most women have it at some point. It can be encouraged as your stitches begin to dissolve because there is usually some discharge that comes along with that. You might even have some light, bright red bleeding.

The good thing about the brown discharge is that it shows there is no new bleeding. Your body is just cleansing itself. When there is infection you usually have a fishy odor, it's nasty. Infection is also usually accompanied by feeling unwell and/or pain. You might also have some yellowish discharge.

There's also a yellow that is from the dye onsome stitches, so don't panic if you see some yellow. If you have concerns about what you're seeing be sure to call and ask your dr. It sounds pretty normal for now. I hope you continue to do well.

infection

Hi,
Rita is right. I had an abscess after my TAH & the signs are a clear fluid pouring out of the vagina(At least that happened to me), the smell was so foul I wanted to vomit & the pain - well words cannot describe it. I had to have another surgery to remove the abscess.
Hope this help
Dina

brownish discharge

Thanks for the help. You were right about the brownish discharge. I called my doctor and he said that it was completely normal. As for any odor, he put me on an antibiotic as a precaution. Thanks for helping me out, being new to all of this, I really have a lot of questions. I wish that the doctors would include a list of "what to expect after" instead of a few warning signs. Again, thank you!
