four months and still pain

If you are "doubled over in agony" for an hour and a half after 3 or 4 months post-op (or actually ANY time)........wouldn't one call an ambulance? I'm very concerned. Is this a normal occurance after this surgery? So sorry this happened to you.

I regularly take 600 mg. (3 tabs worth) Ibuprofen or a Vicodin after I walk a lot or carry things or in general - do too much. I'm only 7 weeks out. Don't get the feeling my male surgeon would support me taking Vicodin at all at this point - last time he ONLY prescribed the Ibuprofen 600's but I got the Vicodin from my internist.

TAH October 5, 2007

I have a few things to say and I hope I can help some of you.
Meanwhile, the reason I came back to the website was because I was some pain in what I would refer to as where my cervix USED to be. Sex yesterday, it was wonderful, gentle and no problem until this morning, when the ache set in. Now its 8:30 pm and its still there. I went "exploring" and found the tissue to be very sensitive and if I try to move it with my finger I can reproduce that pain. So, duh, I know don't do that, but it brought me back here and from the reading of this topic I have surmised that we will continue to heal at least 6 months from our surgery dates.

I had GRANULATION and was told that when I would occassionally see that slightly pink color, just a tiny bit on the toilet tissue. Scary! But, not a big deal, its just tissue healing and sloffing off. (how do you spell that funny word?)

Ten years ago I had surgery for a rectocele, bulging out of the wall between vagina and rectum. It was great! I felt like I had the vagina of a 19 year old again, never to be stretched out from those two childbirths. I'm sorry that one of us is feeling too tight and tearing. I must say, sometimes I still tear, if things aren't well lubricated, because its a good fit, I will tear. Astroglide is a great thing, if you don't have the motivation or time for foreplay. Of course, foreplay is much preferred.

Its ONLY LESS THAN FOUR MONTHS from my surgery and it seems like it was forever ago, but when I say to myself, its three months and a few weeks, at three/four months ... that's not long at all, that is not long. We just had our insides cut out of us, our abdomens.. (some of us) cut open and spread apart from here to the Mississippi and we expect to recover so quickly?!?!?!? Of course we do! But it will take at least 6months before the surgery stuff is healed.

For those of us who have great pains and shooting pain and sexual pains, go to a big hospital and get another opinon. I found out today they can fix those mistakes that some surgeons make and no reason for us to be in such terrible pain. I have a client who is young, 25-ish, she had a TAH 3 years ago, not had sex since. I have just referred her to Johns Hopkins Hospital Pelvic Floor Clinic. She will get help there. Don't think for a moment we are supposed to be in pain. Healing takes time, but there should not be terrible pain. That is a strong symptom something is very, very wrong.

One good thing:........ for the first time in my life, 52 years old, since I started my period at age 16, I am not anemic, I have lots of energy, I'm not always saying how exhausted I am anymore, because I'm NOT. My husband is so surprised how long I stay awake and keep on going... granted, I'm not hyper, no.. not at all, I just am a new person as far as energy, blood level and lack of anemia. I am so very grateful for that. I think I've hemorrhaged almost my whole life.

Hang in there ladies. REad all you can, and find a doctor with a good bunch of research behind him to prove he knows his stuff. That is why I like the JHH Pelvic Floor disorders clinic.

four months and still pain

hey girlz............don't know if you read my new post. but, anyway, i finally got my appointment with my gyno. and, turned out i had a polyp on the scar ! ! it was about 3/4" across. anyway, she removed it & did that silver nitrate thing, which hurt, sort of stabbing pain. and it hurt all night, but has been easing down today. hopefully it will heal and not regrow? she said that some of the cells from inside, got caught up in the scar tissue, and became outside, and so the body grows heaps more cells around it. ? sounds bizzarro??? hmmm...... anyway, fingers crossed that it will be all fine and dandy from now on. i'm really over all this stuff.........gee.

four months and still pain

Hi Ladies, I am three months and have only just resumed sex with my partner.. cos we live in different countries for a start!! and oh diappointing to put it mildly that there was pain.....I will follow this thread with interest cos it just has to get better. The surgeon told me I had the same 'capacity' as before and it should be OK.. but it feels like deep inside, the cuff, presumably that really hurts and that is off-putting for us both. And yes, lots of lumpiness. I had cauterisation twice at two check-ups.. maybe I need more, maybe it will take time, maybe I need stretching. Has anyone used an artificial aid? Thanks for all the advice already given here

four months and still pain

no wonder we are still in pain. I agree with all you gals.... This situation sucks,
I don't know if i would do it again, and I certainly wouldnt wait, like I did, for the problems to get so big that an external cut from belly button to the land down under was the only possibility of getting the thing out! I joined Hystersisters in 2001.I fought for 6 years to keep my body in tact, tried all kinds of stuff which didnt work, and then had to succumb to the "cut". Yuck is all I can say.

four months and still pain

I did call my doctor about my pain. I haven't had any pain since, but thought I'd should let her know. She was pretty certain it was some organ settling (moving) along with gas pains, which caused the pain. (I had eaten some junk food that day as well). UGH!!!

I am not one to run to the ER or doctor office but had the pain continued or not let up I certainly wouldn't have laid and suffered through the night. Plus my DH would not have allowed it.

Thankfully that is behind me and hopefully all of us will continue on the smooth road to healing!

four months and still pain

Can someone explain this to me a little bit clearer? I have no idea... but I have felt myself "tearing" during intercourse. It hurts like its ripping...exactly what it feels like.. Hubby says he could see the part that looked torn.. Hubby thinks its his fault...but i know it wasnt.. as he couldnt be much more gentle than he is....

Also, Please and I dunno if anyone can relate or knows about this...
But I had terribly large cysts..that my doc said had moved my uterus a bit like pushed it over... that was before my hysterectomy... and during sex at that time it always felt like hubby was rubbing the inside of my walls wrong.

This is exactly the same feeling I am having now.. plus adding the tearing of my hole at the bottom... which i dont think ever happened before...especially not while being extremely gentle.....It hurts like hell... I hate it. It cant be normal?

Do they mess with your hole down there while having a hysterectomy? I read on a few previous posts something like that.. I had no idea of this? Is this true?

Please bear with my ignorance.....I hate not knowing what is going on...

any ideas,, i sure would appreciate it.

im going to see my doc tomorrow... i will sure mention it... but i would like to know if any other women has experienced this?

Forgot to mention that i am now almost 6 months post op.
My surgery was the end of september 06

hey just goddess............i'm wondering if your vag. wall has become thin from no estrogen, and that is causing the pain/discomfort? are you using any estrogen creams??? and do you use a good quality lubricant, preferable one with no petrochemicals??? no signs of infections???

four months and still pain

I left a message on this thread earlier and I have to say that after some days of "practice" I no longer have any real pain. I think things have stretched out a bit and it can only get bettter.

Just Goddess.. I trust so much it does for you too.
