colorectal surgeon

Hi everyone,
Has anyone had to get a colorectal surgeon involved? I went to one yesterday. I have to do all sorts of tests just related to the rectal stuff before my urogyn will continue. She says I might need a separate surgery for rectal repairs not involving my rectocele. I thought I had gone through all the embarrassing stuff, but it gets worse with all this. They had my backside way up in the air yesterday! sorry tmi. I felt so vulnerable. I'm still sore down there from what they did.

I have had lots of trouble with rectocele/ rectal pain and I am seeing a Uro/Gyn who works in conjunction with a colorectal specialist. The tests I've had done are more than embarassing, they were downright humiliating. Have you had the "pleasure" of a defecogram yet? I swore to my Gyn that no matter what I will never have that test done again!

Hi Michelle, I had a defacography a couple weeks ago, is that the same thing? I have to get a rectal manometry? and emg done, then a colonoscopy. I thought after having kids that docs being in that area wouldn't affect me but man, was I wrong, a whole different kind of feeling with the rectal stuff. My first reaction when they put my backside up in the air then put the speculum like thing in was to scream "get out of there!" but ofcourse I was a good girl and just hung there taking it. the doc said "don't worry, I'm in butts all day" I really hate all this.

I have been to colorectal dr. and did NOT like it either. It is WAY different than GYN stuff, for sure. I have had a colonoscopy by a gastroenterologist and an anal ultrasound by the colorectal doc. Yep, that test is just as lovely as it sounds. It didn't hurt but the indignity of it was just a new level of yuck. I agree with you on these types of tests and doctors. It's just different and NOT in a good way AT ALL. Bleck, Ick, and Yuck....

May all your tests be over with rapidly and may you find the best solutions for your problems...
